  1. Kinda fitting that Justine is standing in front of a picture of A-Gon, a symbol of a season gone awry.

Who is Sherman accusing of hiding from the media? https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/mets-finalize-familia-trade-to-as-for-two-prospects-international-slot-money/286676828 They're press releases. Nobody has actually stood in front of reporters, partly because they'll also have to answer questions about Cespedes.
  3. It's simple. They said they would eat salary to get better prospects. They lied. They got crap back for a useful player, rental or no. And they're hiding from the media. In other words, Typical Mets.
  4. Boy, this must really be affecting his golf game.
  5. Sell it to the Russians. They'd be so depressed they wouldn't have the heart to meddle in our elections.
  6. Have to believe the job is Gsellman'gs to logse.
  7. I went with 28-40. They are what they are, and that gets them to 95 losses. They'll be weaker after they trade Cabrera, Bautista and Familia, but it won't really matter.

  9. I'll wear it at the end of the season. If I survive, that is.
  10. Well, there's no capitals either. But I've never used an apostrophe.
  11. I'm baffled by the Reyes playing time. There's SOMETHING going on with Dom Smith, to see what little PT he's getting. They're going to dump Bautista, Familia and Cabrera after the break. Flores is also a possibility; this time I don't think he'll be crying if he leaves. And Reyes, he needs to be shot out of a cannon. I'd rather see Ty Kelly play third.
  12. Kinda sums it up.
  13. It's only boring if you're losing. The last two months of 2015 were the most exciting baseball I've ever watched, period.
  14. I'm convinced that one of the reasons that the Mets runs scored and batting average is so low is that they refuse to do this. You have guys who hit into the shift over and over without ever thinking of changing their approach even occasionally.

I also wouldn't take out a pitcher after only one good inning when that pitcher is capable of pitching multiple innings and then bringing in a "struggling" pitcher just to give him work before the break. I was furious about this. Dammit, you've got a kid who's rolling and you take him out after 59 pitches? They probably would have lost the game anyway but I would have liked to have seen what he could have done. And jeez, Reyes could have stolen home just by taking a 70-foot lead off third base (which they were giving him). The minute the catcher releases the ball back to the pitcher, you go. Nobody could throw you out.
  16. Baerga's arms look like tree trunks. Hope you got your hand back without it being crushed.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not sure "healing" is a likely outcome for plantar fasciitis. Through therapy, you can minimize the frequency and severity of flareups, but I don't think it's ever going to disappear from his book. There is a surgery, but that's probably a six-month recovery and it's not without it's downside. I've had it. A bad flareup about 10 years ago, where I could barely walk. Rest and therapy are the best treatments, and I was basically off my foot for about a month. I get minor flares occasionally but I deal with it. Of course I wasn't trying to play the outfield in a major league uniform, but it is treatable.
  18. Boy, I don't know where to start. First of all, I don't trust these guys a) to spend more money and to spend that money wisely. They actually have 4 competent pitchers in deGrom/Thor/Wheeler/Matz. It's everything else that sucks. An outfielder needs to be traded. Bruce will get you nothing. Cespedes is untradeable. Nimmo should be untouchable. And Conforto deserves another year to show whether he's recovered or not. I don't have a plan (neither do they as far as I can tell). I think 2019 will be another year that they limp through.

  20. our manager, Jacques Cousteau Ooh, I am totally stealing that.
  21. seawolf17 wrote: MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER CALLAWAY, YOU GET JOSE REYES OUT OF THE LINEUP THIS INSTANT He either doesn't care or it's a cry for help.
  22. They were the only team to take a flyer on Jose Reyes when no one else would touch him. They'll probably see if Mejia has anything left if he's allowed to attend spring training. I'm guessing he won't be able to shake off the rust and will be released.
  23. Watching this team is like getting whacked in the helmet nightly.
  24. smg58 wrote: Gsellman was on a 100-inning pace until recently, and very few relievers can sustain that. The problem is, who the hell do you bring in at this point? And that's your problem in a nutshell. There aren't any good options.
  25. I told myself I wasn't going to watch. But flipping around the channels I saw they had a 5-0 lead. So I watched. Big mistake. I've never seen so many gigantic bullpen collapses by one team in a season.
