  1. It could be. Pitchers adjust to hitters, hitters need to adjust back. Vientos hasn't done that yet on a consistent basis. Same thing happened to Alvarez after his 25 HR's in '23.
  2. He'll have better numbers than last year (he's already got more RBI's), but his regression after the first month of the season is concerning. If the Mets had any viable alternative at first I'd say let him twist like they did last year and see how much he wants to come back. That leaves open the possibility he gets snatched away by any one of a number of teams, including the Yanx. But the Mets have no up-and-coming first base type in the minors currently.
  3. Well, it's not helping. You can't use 4 or 5 relievers night after night after night and expect good results. If this is by design, then that's a big problem. If you have starters who lose effectiveness after 75 pitches, maybe it's time to find new starters.
  4. Montas is a sunk cost (2 yr/$34mil), so I have to believe they'll run him out there again hoping for the best (and not getting it).
  5. Megill and Blackburn are not the answer. They're part of the problem. Don't know what you do with Montas. He's just not working. Can't figure out what Stearns saw in him to begin with.
  6. McNeil wasn't terrible, but there were a few balls that he didn't get to that I wondered if Taylor would have gotten them.
  7. And he's not being helped any by the defense, but still.
  8. Frankie Montas is not fooling anybody. This is a problem.
  9. Nice to get the win and not have to use either of our closers. Something is wrong with Senga; he's not throwing strikes and he throws the ghost fork so much that they're laying off it, because it's almost never a strike if you don't swing.
  10. My Balamer friend says we'll like him. Hits better than Taylor, but who doesn't? At least they're not getting Luis Robert Jr, which would have been a disaster. I'd have preferred a starting pitcher, but I'm not David Stearns.
  11. 3 A-Ball guys for Helsley I can certainly get behind. Yeah, bullpen solidified. Be nice if their starters could go more than 5 innings so these guys don't have to pitch every single night.
  12. https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/2455792/ron-burgundy.0.jpeg> Stay classy in San Diego, boys.
  13. I've become okay with replay. It corrects a lot of egregious errors by umps, and the game is better for it.
  14. And now they get to throw a bullpen game against Senga. Hopefully Kodai has cleared the mechanism and is ready to pitch Sengaish.
  15. A good game. Pete's homer was monstrous and everyone in the park knew it was gone, even the 6 month-old in front of us sleeping in her mothers' arms. Manaea throws too many pitches: strikeouts are nice, but 3-2 counts aren't. <----Got another Home Run Apple ice cream for my collection.
  16. Turning proming innings into nothing again.
  17. On the 7 as we speak. LFGM.
  18. Nice win but again with stranding runners. I'll be going to the matinee tomorrow with Mrs Lefty and I would appreciate an 8-0 laugher please.
  19. Wow, Gary dissing nachos!
  20. https://www.dictionary.com/e/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/that-escalated-quickly.jpg>
  21. 3-4 innings from the starter and the rest from the pen is simply not sustainable.
  22. Sorry, this is stupid.
  23. I'd drive Baty to Arizona myself.
