  1. 3 years, $30 million. Money that could have been better spent elsewhere. I've never been a Familia fan.

  3. If any deal in any way sends Syndergaard to the Yankees, BVW is dead to me. I don't care what's coming back.
  4. Going to Game 2 in DC with Lefty Jr. The worst they can be at that point is one game under .500.
  5. Centerfield wrote: My proposed Three Team Trade: Mets: Keep Noah Syndergaard Yankees: Go fuck themselves. Marlins: Who fucking cares. Really, this.
  6. Ha. Taylor Swift would dump you and then write a song about you. Get me Grandal, please.
  7. Boy, high-risk. If he got off to a bad start this could be an epic fail. He has enormous talent, but also suffers brain farts the size of Staten Island at times. Properly motivated he could be a force, but no one's ever been able to KEEP him properly motivated for long periods of time. An absent Cespedes will be no help, and when/if Cespedes returns he'll see his playing time diminish as a result.
  8. Realmuto isn't enough of a game-changer to warrant losing Conforto or Nimmo/Rosario. It's not like he's Wayfair free shipping or anything.
  9. That's the thing that always bugged me. In the minors he had great control; when he got to the majors he got the yips. When he pitched ahead in the count he could be dominant, but we all too few flashes of that. Glad we picked Jacob over him in the 2014 spot starter race.
  10. You might be able to get away with a teardown in Houston, but not in New York. Not seeing it.

I looked through Doubleday's estate auction, and his art was a bunch of smokey pictures of snotty young men on horseback, sometimes chasing foxes. I think the only art the Wilpons have collected is Howe. It wasn't very lifelike. But it battled.
  12. Centerfield wrote: I'm so fucking pissed at the Mets. Since when did "aggressive" become an acceptable justification of stupid moves? Realmuto is a nice hitter, but not a middle of the order threat. Conforto and Nimmo are better hitters. Trading for Realmuto makes us worse. Now sure, corner outfielders are easier to find than catchers, but they still cost money. If you trade Nimmo, or Conforto, or Rosario, you have to make that up someplace. That costs money. Why not just sign a catcher? This. I'd rather sign Grandal. Marlins are doing everything they can to pump up the Realmuto market (including saying "Oh, we couldn't possibly trade him within the division!), and I'd rather that BVW not play their game.
  13. They went for Bruce because they were panicked that Conforto either a) would be out longer than anticipated or wouldn't be the same player after such an injury. Plus they didn't really believe in Nimmo, seeing him as a 4th outfielder.
  14. In two years, 29 other teams will laugh at the guy running things after Brodie is fired. It'll be un-dumpable unless the Mets eat virtually all of it.
  15. I kinda feel like the 2013 Blue Jays. "Hey, we got the reigning Cy Young, and who knows if that Synderguy will ever develop into anything anyway..."
  16. Kinda don't like. Depends on what else he does. If this is it, or mostly it, my real-time reaction might change.
  17. For an organization often castigated as being cheap, paying $100 million to a 36-year old seems to be a waste of resources. I mean, if you're going to pay $20 million to Robinson Cano, you'd be better off paying $30 million to either Harper or Machado, no?
  18. Yeah, the hair's a deal-killer for me.
  19. Law has never been a fan of the Mets, but I can't argue with him about the foolishness of including Kelenic in this deal. Seattle's doing a salary dump and apparently not sending that much money, which should lower the return the Mariners get. That's always the way it works when the Mets dump salary.
  20. This has to be the prelude to something else, because I'm not crazy about it right now. McNeil better not be in it, and there better be plenty of money coming back. Dunn and Bautista I can live with, but Kelenic really hurts.
  21. I really, really want to believe they won't do something stupid. Afraid they will, though. Cano could be the next Robbie Alomar.
  22. Looks like Alonso got to the major leagues a bit early.
  23. Boy, they'd have to eat most of that contract AND take Bruce off our hands. And even then I'd be hesitant.
  24. Even if I wanted him, Bryce Harper isn't coming here. Not even worth discussing.
  25. Damn. Josh and Howie had a chemistry in the booth. I just hope they don't screw this up. We've had the privilege of listening to a great TV booth and a great radio booth for a while now.
