I only lived in Jersey for a short time while floundering in my first attempt at college, from January '84 thru early summer '86...after growing up 100 miles from NYC in upstate NY, it was a treat to see the Mets games free on tv, and be able to have a short drive to either Shea or Veterans Stadium (weekends when the Mets were there)...I couldn't have picked a better time to be there, it was the beginning of the Davey Johnson era of the Mets...which most likely was why I was doomed in my summer tri-mester at DeVry: hotter than hell, going to school during the day, watching the Mets at 7pm and then working graveyard shift M-F at UPS; I was too wiped out to put a lot of effort into school work

I was a Cowboys/Bills fan as a kid in football, losing interest after the Aikman & Emmitt Smith era, casually watching the Patriots/Packers mostly because I live in New England now and my son is a huge Green Bay fan...but can't really say that I've watched football in several years...in basketball, I was a NY Nets fan when they had Doctor J in the ABA, and then became a 76'ers fan after the ABA folded and then a Suns fan for awhile but haven't watched in years... as far as the NY thing...as much as I have followed the Mets over my lifetime, I can't imagine watching the Yankees, Jets, Giants, Knicks, etc...

I think that I remember that McDowell to Hojo unintentional toss...I had forgotten about it, but now I seem to remember both McD and Cone doing some bonehead things when they weren't in the process of delivering a pitch

My memory could be wrong but...I seem to remember going to a day game at Shea back during HoJo's Mets days...I believe that HoJo was playing a position other than 3rd (I believe it was shortstop, but could have been the OF) and he went after a flyball and collided with another player...I believe either HoJo or the other player got hurt on the play (forearm/wrist contusion or worse)... Anyone remember this? Or is my memory toast?
