    Newsday. I like the image the Post used, but the cover is otherwise too busy. I don't like the hair blocking Noah's eye in the News' shot.

I went with the Daily News magazine, which celebrates the team, rather than an individual player -- probably the Mets greatest achievement. The Mets finest hour, indeed! I own a mint condition copy of this mag and had even considered framing it to hang on a wall. It looks beautiful up close. The cover shot has sort of a painterly effect. I wish some of our experienced photographers could explain this effect. Is that simply the film used to take that sweeping shot of Shea as Kooz and Grote embrace and Ed Charles does that dance of sheer joy? I like the way the red ushers' uniforms pop out. The relatively tiny picture of the mag doesn't do it the justice it deserves because the details are so fine.

Actually, the vengeful God theory would apply more to the actions of Fred, Jeffy and Saul...

    When McNeil popped out in the 3d, it was so quiet that I thought I heard him yell "FUCK ME!" (Or maybe those were the voices in my head.) Nope. I heard that, too.
