I think of it as a rare track featuring Moon at the mic, but it's a terrific showcase for his drumming also.

Well, I thought there'd be some awesome early clips of "Can't Explain" and "The Kids Are Alright."

Name a name! Get in the game!! jay bruce There's always JB to add to your score with a chance for MORE! Five points for you gets you up to second place WITH A BONUS ON THE WAY!! Sorry. I must've been up late when I added this question to the list, because it's a doozy. But give it a shot, and then take a crack at the BROKEN-OPEN QUESTION!! [th]Bonus Question for metsmarathon[/th] Where was Bill Mazer born? Incorrect Answers to This Question So Far: None Available Broken-Open Questions That Your are Additionally Invited to Answer [*]Which two Mets were drafted in the first round twice? My next guess: Francisco Lindor! Lucky Lindy was born in Puerto Rico, but he went to high school in Monteverde, FL, and that allowed the Indians to pick him in the first round in 2011! BUT … Frayed Knot already correctly guessed The Lindberger back near the top of this question. I'll try to put together a list of correctly guessed names, as finding them all in that grid below is prolly a pain. Cool. Robin Ventura When you're cool, you're cool. I tend to think the face buried in the hands says more with less than the gushing-blood shot, but that may just be a matter of taste. -
Strong cases for both. I'd guess Villar had a Steamer or Pecota projection going into the season of about 0.8 fWAR, and produced 2.1. I'd imagine Megill had a projection of 0.0 or 0.1, but he came out of the season with an actual fWAR of only 0.6. I might have guessed more, but Manager Rojas was giving him such short workdays whether or not he was pitching well, and he averaged just under five innings per start. I'd also lay a little dark-horse loving on Aaron Loup. He didn't come from out of short left field like Villar or from completely out of the parking lot like Megill, but going from bullpen backender to the peak performer ain't nothing. And to see a LOOGy flourish after they went and outlawed the LOOGy is a beautiful thing. It's like all these silent film stars grumbling about how sound ended their careers. But Laurel and Hardy faced the new paradigm down and somehow got even bigger. Who'da thunk it?

I think the "WHO?" stuff is overblown as usual. He's clearly got plenty of baseball experience. Who the hell was Zack Scott? Who was Brian Cashman? None of which says I think he's the right person for the job, but the idea that stepping away from the industry and getting outside experience should definitively make me dubious isn't happening with me. If I've spent a few quality years in a successful organization, and I flatter myself that I'm on a GM track, and I'm even getting some sniffs from other teams, but then somebody comes in and turns the staff over, and I'm on the outside, I don't think it's necessary that I take the first jock-washing job I can get in order to stay in the industry and remain a qualified candidate. Stepping aside into corporate law or somesuch is legit experience as well. Maybe it's even experience that distinguishes me from the field. Which, again, doesn't mean that Mr. Cromie doesn't look kind of douchey. And while I think running with a narrative happens all the time, it's certainly not unfathomable that Cohen has already developed a bad name.

Sorry, both Ward and The Shuffler enjoyed the leverage-wrecking honor of being drafted.

I worked for Jones Day (then known as Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue) a lifetime ago. Whenever something went wrong, I blamed Reavis. It's a massive, massive firm, with offices in multiple cities, but yeah, they represented President Trump in 2016 and 2020. Don McGahn left JD to become the president's White House Counsel. Dozens of former administration lawyers now call JD home. I'll just give Cromie the benefit of the doubt that he's looking to leave because of that, rather than taking that stink with him. That's wishful thinking of course. That said, I'm all for executives who come from outside of baseball, but obviously, he's had a successful baseball career as well. I don't think anything's off there, though I agree that he looks kind of douchey. On the other hand, it's almost a requirement that if you work for a DC law firm, the thumbnail pic accompanying your bio has to make you look good and douchey. If he's hired, Raquel Ferreira (aka Red Sox Lady) still has the PoBO job to shoot for.

Good to see this thread get mid-week traction after seeing disappointing box office upon it's Sunday launch. I was feeling like the only stupid guy who bought the t-shirt.

2021 Tabloid Cover Derby Round 1.10 May 3 through May 9
Edgy MD replied to Benjamin Grimm's topic in New York Mets Talk
Some problem children here. LAST MAN STANDING is a handsome layout, but totally confusing in that it features Jeurys Familia but neither the head nor the superhead say anything explicitly about him. Is he the last man standing? Possibly, but I don't know. I have to think a bit about who he even is because the superhead is trying to tell me something about Edwin Diaz. The intensity of Lindor's face on the three Lindy covers using a similar picture is attractive, but the strange exposure of the News and Post covers makes him look like he's wearing a ton of stage makeup and makes the setting look like a day game. It wasn't. They also all kind of miss the story, with the Mets scratching back out of a 4-0 hole in a great game with a fantastic fire brigade of relief work, particularly Loup who was the last, along with two fine innings from Tommy Hunter, who was looking like a real find at the time. Also going disturbingly unacknowledged was rookie Patrick Mazeika coming up with the walkoff dribbler in his third MLB game. We didn't yet quite know just how bad (fucking awful) the 2021 Diamondbacks were, so this felt like a real turnaround of a win. Unless you've got new rat developments, leave that shit out. New day, new story. -
Sorry. Early morning posting error. 1986, of course.

No, there is indeed more than one child raised or conceived by a 1969 Met whose name got called in an MLB draft. And the two-time first-rounders we're looking for? Neither of them is Preston Wilson or Ron Darling. Both of them were only drafted once.

I just found out today that Dick Shawn was set to become a professional baseball player, but his draft notice arrived shortly after his contract offer from the White Sox. In the army, he learned he was better at being funny than playing baseball.
