  1. 𝗕𝗔𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 Brian Wilson dies — play "Kokomo" John Lennon dies — play "Yesterday" Bill Medley dies — play "Unchained Melody" Ike Turner dies — play "River Deep, Mountain High" Peter Gabriel dies — play "Illegal Alien" Anybody dies — play "Illegal Alien"
  2. Yes, they are waiting on Juan Soto.
  3. You exhaled?! While the ball was in PLAY?!! You DICK!
  4. How Twinnish, is this? They're at .500, in the middle of the standings in the middle division. Everything about them is symmetrical.
  5. Death Valley days.
  6. SGotI named Franklin Benedict is going around tracing the downfall of the Costearndoza Mets to the day Brian Wilson died. I'm not one to endorse the idea of curses, as there are certainly enough reasons that things go to shit as observed through the lens of rationality. But if there is such a thing, I tend to agree that this is enough of an insult to the universe to bring a curse about. That said, in my brief search for accounts of that day, I was only able to find one or two accounts of "I Get Around" being featured over the Citi Field PA. So maybe this guy is full of it, and the Mets failures' are due only to sensible, baseball reasons, like not signing any utility infielders with hit records.
  7. I am not particular concerned about the rotation. A rotation full of starters is rarely firing all at once. The failures are just magnified because the offense can't keep them in games where the starters aren't awesome.
  8. We traded two perfectly functional human beings to the White Sox for Luis Robert, and Luis brought his curse with him, turning the Mets into the White Sox. How does everybody not see this?
  9. Imma not seeing brilliant.
  10. No, that would have been the right move to make. I didn't see it at the time, because heightened emotion makes me stupid(er).
  11. Zero walkz in 10 innings. Mets be turning every pitcher into Dennis Eckersley.
  12. Devin Williams quotes Jeff McNeil on the way off the field. I guess The Department of Warren takes over from here.
  13. He had to use his peripheral vision to watch that ball go down the line.
  14. Ron Darling at Wrigley: 3-6 with a 5.38 ERA in 17 career starts. (And yeah, send out Weavie Wonder for the ninth.)
  15. With Pham presumably heading out to right to replace Benge, our bench is down to Senger.
  16. Whew. In the parallel version of this ballgame taking place in my head, I've got Clay Holmes and Nolan McLean up in the pen.
  17. Ray Burris can't sing any better than most of the "TMOttBG" singers the Cubs employ, but he has some good power for a 75-year-old.
  18. Interesting what they do with the bullpen here. They are going to have to either use somebody on consecutive days (gasp!) or turn this slender lead over to Austin Warren.
  19. Great comeback by Brazoban, and I'm not making accusations, but his eyes looked like he was still shaking off last night.
