Winning is clearly not a priority. If there were shots of Soto in the dugout grabbing a bat, and pestering the manager to let him pinch-hit, that might have been something.
But if showcasing is a priority, they probably ought to send Benge, Ewing, McLean, Scott, and Thornton back down until after the deadline.
They can get their playing time, and more room is available for Operation Showroom.
I don't want this, but pretending to keep some sort of balance isn't a pretty picture.
Baty is stuck somewhere in the middle — not really being showcased for a selloff, but not really looking like a part of the team's future either. More playing time may help allow him to change his trajectory for now. Maybe he can get more of a foothold in one category or another with a good week.
