I suspect it's low for Flores, especially since all his value is predicated on him playing an above average SS which unfortunately is still up in the air. Actually has him playing a better SS than Tejada, which seems like a pipe dream to me. Yeah, I wouldn't say that's up in the air so much as off in the ether. I'd find it highly surprising to see Flores play an above-average shortstop, or an above-average anything.
  2. Steamer predicts Tejada to put up 0.9, which isn't so bad when you consider that he only projects 65 games from the Rube. Which would suggest that Flores-backed-up-by-Ruben would (maybe) be a more sensible move than bringing in one of those alternatives.

  6. It's interesting how water finds it's level in this regard --- because of the era, and how that's expressed in how a guy is used and how many wins the team is capable of getting, as much as because of a guy's skillz --- he gets the samish amount. Bentiez gets 43 and 41, Looper gets 29 and 28, McGraw gets 27 and 25, etc.
  7. Fox Sports reporting that J.J. Hardy is close to signing a highly unusual (unprecedented?) mid-post-season contract extension with the Orioles. Good news is that Kaz Matsui is still available.
  8. Going off on a tangent here: Is there something to perhaps be said for the notion that maybe it is merely speculation (informed speculation, but still speculation) that the toe injury led to arm problems, while history has accepted it as an established fact? I mean, the arm is still a mystery to us today. How much did we really know back during World War II?
  9. The Orioles won't stop. And neither will I.
  10. For important homers that don't quite measure up to deserving a spot, you can just list them all on/around the apple.
  11. I'm not sure I was clear. Dr. Altchek performed the first surgery. Dr. Andrews will be performing this one. Different mechanic, as it were.
  12. That's weird.
  13. Finding out for a fact Mike Piazza used illegal PEDs in the nineties and beyond < watching Mike Piazza openly defy Congress in a sad attempt to save his pathetic skin Mathematical fact.
  14. Jeremy Hefner has elected to return to HSS for admittance in the Double Tommy John Club. TJ surgery big shot Dr. James Andrews will be doing the cutting in place of Dr. David Altchek, who did the honors last time.

When you look at a card you wanted after you get it and you don't feel great about it being in your hand, the thrill is gone. That's what I'm trying to describe.
  16. That photo is kewl, but somehow the stadium exterior changes in time but the cars remain the same.
  17. Not meant as an assault. Only a lament.
