  1. Get it back, O's! More Joan Jett! Less Lorde!
  2. Mets don't eat that way. Uh, uh. The Mets didn't want the contract with the cheaper years and the younger Reyes coming off his best season included. Why would they want it now? It's paying top dollar for muffin stumps.
  3. Three problems: shortstop, leadoff, and fan faith. I mean, I don't think his acquisition would actually solve any of those three, but it would speak to them.

Dimson nlooks mlike a heguva flayer, but mm'm not cghure mrushing him noo the smarting wineup wibout a mnay in toople-A izh a mnood igea.
  5. I'm not so convinced that Flores is necessarily a better fielder than Muh.
  6. And how about the Dodgers, stealing Andrew Friedman from the Rays, while still keeping Ned Coletti?
  7. I didn't see that as much. I thought he was all arms and could do almost nothing better than grounding out on pitches away. Great hand/eye coordination could definitely keep him in at bats, and he crushed inside pitches and curves in his wheelhouse, and he certainly can adapt to those hard sliders. So I'm certainly not bearish on his potential. I just liked Dilson's swing better, though I disagree with Centrifuge that Dilson looks like our opening day second baseman.
  8. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Sources: John Hart has turned down the Braves' offer to be GM. For now, Atlanta focused on AGM John Coppolella and Royals GM Dayton Moore. Who doesn't want to be a GM? Who doesn't want to be a a GM of a healthy and an almost perennially contending team? John Hart doesn't, which is a curiosity. Maybe he feels like all their contracts to second- and third-year players has locked them in too much for the next five years and he would either not be able to build his own squad, or would have to set the team back a few years in order to undo that strategy. I dunno. Be interesting to see them go after the Royals' GM just as the Royals are wrapping up their most successful season in 29 years.
  9. And he's got top-shelf taste in beer.
  10. He's got no potential?
  11. Not so much for me. Strong, accurate arm? Certainly. Soft hands? Mostly. But beyond the lack of range, there seemed to be a lack of footwork, flexibility, instinct, and imagination. All that may come, of course, as most of it is improvable if the commitment is there (both by the player and the organization). But the real question is the bat. if that doesn't come, whether he can hack it on defense is a moot point.
  12. More Metly Minor League Randys: Randy Vickers (1966-1967): Third base and first base. Randy Marshall (1992-1993): PITCHER! but not particularly old Randy McGilberry (1980): PITCHER! Could conceivably qualify as older to a young woman (currently 60), but not particularly Jewish in nomenclature. Randy Rogers (1978-1980): Currently a 58-year-old former infielder, but would you send your daughter to a gyno named "Randy Rogers"? I'm not sure I'd send her to a high school with a kid named Randy Rogers in her class.
  13. PbP calls I'd never heard before: "He made the play right in front of his beard."
  14. Nobody else tuning in? Here's hoping Kansas City going to the pen so early will come back to hurt them.
  15. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Assuming everyone's healthy on Opening Day, I'd bet that Harvey won't get the start. I'd bet on either Niese (seniority) or deGrom (best Mets pitcher, 2014 and possibly, reigning ROY). Certainly may not be Harvey, but seniority doesn't fly very much anymore.
  16. BOOM! Post reporting that the Mets (and unfortunately, the Yankees) have had preliminary discussions with Dave Magadan about the batting coach position (and presumably about batting leadoff).
  17. Mets begin the upending of defending division champion Washington on the road at Nationals Park. The lineups may or may not look something like this. 19. Surprised Damon Easley got more trips than the Schneid. Seemed like that guy was here forever.
  20. It's cool that you show Mo and Bono actually on the bases. How vulnerable they look out there.
