  2. It's September 2008 Territory. I don't know why, since he's our current cleanup hitter, but I just get the idea that moving on from Neil Walker is where our turnaround begins. And I think the Law of Neil Conservation means that the acquisition of Neil Ramirez will somehow trigger the end of Neil Walker's tenure.
  3. He was on the 60-day DL anyhow. So the recoup (whoop-de-doo) was almost a certainty anyhow. But I guess knowing that makes it more workable to take on a contract now, if they choose.
  4. Because once her coach turned into a pumpkin, it became increasingly difficult for her to absorb his instruction.
  5. I'm not sure. Somebody comes of the DL. Somebody gets called up and totally changes the complexion of the lineup. A reliever learns a new pitch, bumps himself up in the rankings and everybody else down a notch. The coaching staff gets shaken up. I don't know that a turnaround is going to happen, or how it'll happen if it does, but they do happen, and I'm sure rooting for one now. I do know that I feel like we can't afford to wait on Granderson.
  6. Man that inside sider against the lefty suddenly doesn't seem so unhittable.
  7. Clean-shaven Neil Walker.
  8. Yes, I'd bunt all day long against this alignment.
  9. So many bad ideas in one uniform here.
  10. Conforto back in the leadoff tonight.

  12. Share your memories of Jose Reyes Piranhamite May 8, 2017 Ah, Reyes. He fills my lungs with pure oxygen whenever I witness his magic. His catlike skills are superheroic; not even the great Spider-Man could make plays that this Dominican webslinger wields. It has been said that such celebrities as Vin Diesel, Joe Benigno, Todd Schnitt, Kylie Jenner, and Emma Stone have difficulty restraining the liquids in their orbitals when witnessing the acrobatic feats of this blue-and-orange dynamo. The plaque in Cooperstown is at the ready. Immortal infielders Honest Wagner, Books Robinson, and George Brett will be among the first to embrace Reyes into the pantheon of baseball immortality. We as Mets fans should be proud; let us stand at attention every time Reyes approaches the plate, and bestow from our tonsils, the Reyes chant that echoes majestically from sea to shining sea. Here's hopin' Piranhamite has a blog.
  13. Good news, for what it's worth, is that the Mets are in Mountain Time with the 51s at home, so for once, minor league callups this week won't create too many time-and-space issues.
  14. "You can not gild it; the raw comes through."

Putz Vice President, Latin Operations, Junior Noboa Special Assistant to the GM Craig Shipley Heartland Area Scout Tony Piazza Mets Who Have Shed Their Scales Closer-as-of-This-Morning Addison Reed Third Base Coach Glenn Sherlock (had spent 19 years as a coach for the Diamondbacks, dating back to their inception!) Bench Coach Dick Scott (minor league manager and major league scout for Arizona) Batting Coach Kevin Long resides in Arizona, as I imagine 25% of all MLB-affiliated dudes do.
  16. Also MIA: ceetar.
  17. Wheeler has emerged, to me as The Most Important MetTM.
  18. Ha! ceetar and Zvon are MIA, but we get the first dgw post in six months. Welcome Bomback.
  19. I found this to be a slog. For all the criticisms about George Lucas' storyboard-quality scripts, his stories had coherence and arc and motive and stuff. The rebels come off as a real bunch of moral cynics and worse here, which really rewrites a lot of the foundation. But there wasn't one verbal exchange that I felt had meaning for me outside of the movie. Not a lot had meaning within the movie. Sometimes they tried, and really awkward things fell out of people's mouths. The orchestral cues seemed to be a satire of John Williams Star Wars canon.
  20. And that's why we ended up going down with Reynolds at the plate in the ninth. What the Mets don't seem to realize is that the brand-spanking-new 10-day DL has taken a yewj chunk of the margin for error out of the to-DL-or-not-to-DL decision. Err on the side of DL-ing a guy, and you'll be serving yourself a lot better.

From his position in the pantheon, I'm not even sure he can see Honus Wagner.
  22. Tenth in batting average, 11th in OBP, fifth in slugging, 12th in homers, 18th in RBI. Fifth in OPS. Only 20th, however, in WAR.
  23. You go ahead and flip your bat, Manny Piña.
  24. Think of my heart.
  25. I didn't see that pitch hit him.
