  1. OE -- Don't forget that -- assuming that talent evaluation is more or less accurate and efficient, when MLB expands, it adds players that otherwise would still be in the minor leagues. Two new teams means you'd have 50 new major leaguers, most of them worse than Adam Wilk and Rafael Montero. How is that not watering down the league? Because they add a team, on average once every 8.36 years. So yeah, if you measure it from the very minute before two teams were added to the very minute after, talent has been watered down. If you measure it over time, no it hasn't. Keith was speaking from his "day"—the midpoint of his career (the mexridian) being 1982—to now. Four teams have been added in 35 years since then. A 15.3% increase. The earth's population has increased by 63% in that time.

One day at a time right now, I think. Pill pitched today. He doesn't strike folks out, but he keeps the ball in the park, with only two homers in 56 1/3 innings. At 4-1 with 1.60 ERA, I would think he's got to be a candidate.
  3. It's like the Mets forced Noah Syndergaard to get an MRI, and the MRI revealed he was Tommy Milone.
  4. A 9-2 loss in the walks column. That's where we're getting kilt on both sides of the ball. I got to dig another garden bed. I sang "Secret Garden" as I dug.

It seems to be obvious math that the growth of the US population and the growth of the international talent pool has far outstripped the growth of available MLB roster spots.
  6. OK, thank you, Matt Reynolds. That's one.
  7. You quit on me, Grandy. I should have come up with a better thread title.
  8. Keith is selling the old, "Expansion waters down talent" story.
  9. Giving new meaning to "Mayday Milone."
  10. That's JEFRY Marte at third, Keef, not JERRY. Former Mets minor leaguer traded to the A's for Colin Cowgill and his opening day power.
  11. And Fortie saves some bacon.
  12. Well, this isn't the way we drew it up.
  13. L'il Trabbis is growing up. Was in St. Lucie yesterday. Today in Las Vegas. Hopefully he's a Met again in time for the San Diego series.
  14. Mets 1-0 in Beefheart-themed IGTs.
  15. Righthander Jesse Chavez looks for his 30th career victory and a chance to stop the flaming hot Mets from extending their two-game winning streak. Trying to complete the sweep for the Mets is lefty Tommy Milone, himself looking for career win #46.
  16. Gets ahead of peeps but he's not making that last pitch. Show that killer instinct, man.
  17. Um, Neil. We don't want a sticky wicket.
  18. Name: Neil Ramirez Met #: 1,030 Number: 55 Debut Date: 5/20/2017 Debut Performance: 0.0 IP. Walk, bloop hit, infield hit. 3 ER. [tweet] [/tweet]

Rose forgot who was on the bases and was telling us what the trailing runners were doing instead of the lead runners. Meanwhile, the game is being broken open. Let's launch us some Neil Ramirez.
  20. Way to tack on, Mets. Or, at least, I think so. Howie Rose just made one of the more botched calls of his career.
  21. He's givin' 'em the business all night long!
