It's one more reason professional sports drafts are an un-American absurdity.

I like that they've drafted a Gavin (Round 26) and a MacCleod (Round 33). #priorities RoundPLAYERSCHOOLPOSB/TCLASSSTATUS1Peterson, DavidOregonLHPL/LJR2Vientos, MarkAmerican Heritage School3BR/RHS=#FF0000]Signed 6/21/2017 as per Jonathan Mayo3Brodey, QuinnStanfordRFL/LJR4Dibrell, TonyKennesaw StateRHPR/RJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/20175Winaker, MattStanfordOFL/LJR6Renteria, MarcelNew Mexico StateRHPR/RSR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/20177O'Neil, ConnerCal State NorthridgeRHPR/RSR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/20178Cobb, TreyOklahoma StateRHPR/RSR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/20179Chadwick, CannonU Arkansas FayettevilleRHPR/RSR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201710Villines, StephenU KansasRHPR/RSR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201711Schneider, JackDaviess County HSCFR/RHS12Hutchinson, BryceDeland HSRHPR/RHS13Peden, NateUniversity HSRHPR/RHS=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201714Duce, MatthewDallas BaptistCL/RJR15Snypes, DylanOral Roberts USSL/RJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201716Gladu, RaphaelLouisiana Tech ULFL/RSR17Labas, AJTrinity Christian AcademyRHPR/RHS18Stajduhar, CarlNew Mexico3BR/RJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201719Van Eyk, CJSteinbrenner HSRHPR/RHS20Flores, YadielPuerto Rico BB AcademyRHPR/RHS21Ford, AaronTennessee Wesleyan ColLHPL/LJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201722Payne, JoshuaWest Texas A&M URHPR/RSR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201723Sierra, JoseMonroe ColLHPL/LJ2=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201724Cavallaro, JoeU South FloridaRHPR/RJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201725Huffman, LaineCal St Long BeachSSR/RJR26Garay, GavinSt. Petersburg CollegeSSR/RJ2=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201727Oxford, BillyAzusa Pacific URHPR/RJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201728Vasquez, JeremyNova Southeastern University1BL/LJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201729McCall, LiamFirst Coast HSRHPR/RHS=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201730McWilliams, IanBeech HSRHPR/RHS31Selmer, RyanMarylandRHPR/RJR=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201732Chafin, KaylorTexas A&M ULHPR/LSR33Lozer, MacLeodU MichiganRHPR/RSR34Eder, JakeCalvary Christian AcademyLHPL/LHS35Wilson, KyleCrowder CollegeRHPR/RJ136Kidwell, RobbyBrunswick CCCL/RJ2=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201737Walker, JoshuaU New HavenLHPL/LSR38Alfonzo, DanielBayside HS3BR/RHS39Nuñez, NoahSantana HSRHPR/RHS=#FF0000]Signed 6/19/201740Taylor, Jr., RonnieAllen HSRHPR/RHS

The Mitsubishi Montero was a third-rate sport SUV, that has since evolved into the more marketable Mitsubishi Pajero. [fimg=650:15pan2hj]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/16/80/8f/16808f4943fe92b9b71c77972f19f881.jpg[/fimg:15pan2hj]

Pete Flynn (to Beatles): "Harrison, eh? I knew some Harrisons back in Lietrem. They'd rob you blind, those Harrisons." George (to self): "OK, yeah, whatever." Pete: "Auld Feargall Harrison would rob the pennies off a dead man's eyes." George: "Paul, I think I've got a song." Paul: "Good for you, wot, George!" Pete: "AND LET'S GIVE IRELAND BACK TO THE IRISH!" John: "How about we have us a quiet ride, shall we?" Pete: "IN YOUR HOLE, LENNON! ♬A NATION ONCE AGAIN!! ♫ ♪"

I don't have an inability. I have a different opinion. I have a tremendous ability. Enjoy the lovefest. I'm not the sole dissenter. Not if you look around a little.

In the middle of the eighties when the Mets were the METS, Pete had an endorsement deal, I think with Scott's TurfBuilder PlusTM. I worked for the Rockville Centre Parks Department. Among the permanent employees, you never saw such a bunch of bitter jealous middle-aged men. "I'm Pete Flynn blah-blah-blah!" The reality is that I was working with a half a dozen guys who desperately wanted to be Pete Flynn.

Still out-hitting them!

Gavin looking lost up there tonight.

Reyes joins the Swinging at High Junk Club.

THANKS, BUTTLEY!!

Ron Cey: Folks made fun of his body shape, but I think that was definitely a baseball physique.

It could be an incredible simulation. The Mets infield has not been an incredible simulation of a big league infield.

Nice move by Buttley. Never knew why more infielders don't try that move.

Mets, stop chasing high junk off of this guy.

I'm just looking for going 1.000 tonight. OE: Actually I just aim for a scoreless first.

Pete chauffeurs The Beatles.

Hey, Ann Coulter is back behind home plate. She disappeared after the third inning last night.

There we go. I hate to say I missed Curtis from the lineup after I've been lobbying for his benching, but I missed his ass last night.

It's good to see the KCMets icons active again. Our good luck charm!

Maybe if you get enough starting pitchers, just rotating them on and off the DL may be an effective strategy. You know, in theory, but ... Erik Goeddel's AAA season had gotten off to such a terrible start that I had despaired of ever seeing the 2015 post-season veteran ever again, but the misadventures of the Mets' pitching staff has sort of made Goeddel's lofty PCL ERA a little more normalized. That's not really the way it's supposed to work, but welcome back, EG. Let's break the tape on 2017 in style. I tend to think a big part of the issues with this team is dropping two of their more expensive offseason pay packets on guys they didn't really want. That money could have gone someplace special. That they've played more or less well (when healthy) doesn't change the facts that they (1) had other guys who could handle those positions, and (2) had other targets that $$$ might have gone toward. That money could indeed have gone to that pitcher. The Wright money still can, I guess.

You just have to use the PtBNL back door. Presumably the teams have a handshake understanding of what Plan B will be if the player never recovers. A DL'd Walker is a tough thing to pull the trigger on, because unlike Wheeler, any value Neil offers is short-term. And short-term, it's tough to have faith in his health.

Pill and Hill filll out the bill Eight hours 'til they take the hill And then I will consume my swill And seek a thrill—no 12-run-kill The baseball shill says "Pay your bill!" "Watch the skill! the balls they'll drill!" It makes me ill, the overkill But at the mill, my cash will spill Pill and Hill fill out the bill Tune in I will, from Lauraville And some daffodil who makes 10 mill My dreams will kill, yet I watch still

Good call.
