Down to a final four. Very exciting.

J.D. knocked out of the lineup again, but Conforto is getting all sorts of rope.

=smg58 post_id=72992 time=1627685449 user_id=62] At this point I would rather have gotten fleeced than gotten nothing on the pitching front.

I refuse to be pessimistic. Unjust structures fall every day.

What really stinks here isn't so much the Mets behavior, but the draft itself. I'd certainly be happy to recommend different courses of action to navigate the system, but the system itself is so unjustly rigged that it feels dirty to advise teams how to best play it. The Mets don't like what they see and don't want to make an offer. That's their right. But the real tragedy is that Rocker can't just turn around offer his services to any number of other professional organizations who might feel differently. It's academic and speculative and largely missing the point to argue about how the Mets should have hedged their bets better. Fight the real enemy.

A guy tells me that he's competing under the name Mondo Duplantis, and I give him the gold medal on principle.

Tantalizingly close. Do we get an Almora pinch-running appearance?
  9. Edgy MD
    That was old, bad-defense Nimmo.

I've kind of had it with Joey Votto coaching our hitters.

Ron and Gary are twisting themselves into the ground exploring the swinging 3-0 question. If you're leading off down by a run, you shouldn't be swinging 3-0, even if your last name is Ruth.

JD's ball sure looked out to me, but if the Mets aren't contesting it, then they ain't.

New Strategy: Get a runner on third with less than two outs for Dominic Smith.

=nymr83 post_id=73348 time=1628037215 user_id=54] Walker allowed 9 runners in 4 innings and is over 70 pitches. I would have pinch hit there.

It would help if the Mets taught bunting better.

It happens all the time. Pitchers do well. Then they don't. Then they do again. Ain't nobody going to pitch well enough if his team doesn't score.

=ashie62 post_id=73338 time=1628035683 user_id=90] They cannot keep running Walker out there every fifth day.

A lot of Marlins batters are getting their first this or first that.

    Almora persists!

I thought the most appropriately named Cardinal would be José Cardenal in a walk. [FIMG=250]https://scottsdalecards.ultimatecardstore.com/online_store/store/images/0000806199.jpg[/FIMG]

I'll take contagious hitting and keeping the line moving.

Jeff King was mos' def' on my shortlist. Ángel Bravo, sadly, played for three teams, and none of them were the Angels or the Bravos. Being appropriately named is hard if your employers won't cooperate. [FIMG=250]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wKIAAOSwNgZfeJFX/s-l500.jpg[/FIMG]

They are very much a different team without Nimmo in the lineup. This is all the more exacerbated by the black hole that Pillar fell into.
