  1. Slider after slider off the plate gets Hembree two strikeouts when the team desperately needed anything but strikeouts.
  2. All we needed was contact, Javier.
  3. Hembree is not showing me anything. Don't try to overdo it, Javier.
  4. A Boy Named Seo wrote: He's an imperfect player (duh) but brings raw power, all caps EXCITEMENT, and elite defense up the middle. The thing this signals to me most, worrisome or not, is a commitment to making Lindor as comfortable as possible, so we get the Lindor we know exists for the next 9+ years. Is that worth Pete Crow-Armstrong? If it works, then most likely yes. And it's not like Báez is Mike Glavine or anything, he's a very good, in-his-prime player and I'd bet a round of expensive beers at Citi Field they extend or re-sign him. Is he a very good, in-his-prime player in a way that Jeff McNeil distinctly ain't? Because I'm having trouble making this add up with the decreased playing time for Jeff, who is the team's most reliable hitter right now, and has a lifetime .312 batting average and .860 OPS. The glove can speak for itself, but those are numbers that Javy Baez has rarely ever sniffed, much less sustained over a career. Ideally, the playing time he gains gets taken from multiple people. But I'd seriously have guessed that a new shortstop was one of the last things the team needed.
  5. Apart from the first pitch, a strong debut for Cookie Carrasco, Met #1,147. Though I'd like something besides 59 on his back. Always puts me in mind of Guillermo Mota.
  6. We at Mets Roster Central really feel like if we can catch up before the team falls out of first, everything will be OK. Friday night they were through with each other. Done. This time for good. And Monday morning in the school hall way, they were ALL OVER each other. It's pathetic. 7. =bmfc1 post_id=73017 time=1627693815 user_id=73] A run in, bases loaded, no one out... and everything has been crap since then.
  8. Forget Javy Baez. There's a game going on there, guys. The Mets were a much better team before the first out.
  9. Interesting that their using J.D. Davis off the bench mid game with nobody on. Drury and Pillar and McCann are all more valuable to save for later.
  10. Wonderful first start for Cookie apart from the first pitch.
  11. =seawolf17 post_id=73004 time=1627690230 user_id=91] =seawolf17 post_id=72995 time=1627687581 user_id=91] Ruben Tejada sighting! He's at third base for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs tonight here in Rochester.
  12. Two outs! Can't double-play this inning!
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: We're unlikely to discover anything about JB over the next two months that we don't already know: great and versatile D, power but low OBPs plus high Ks and zero plate discipline. Not sure how anxious they should be to extend such an animal. Like, league-leading high K's. The kind of thing that seems like just statistical noise until he's doing it for your team. New Crane Pool Forum Rule: Don't post while cycling.
  14. Is Zack Scott now the the general manager with no "acting" before his title or is diComo just tweeting and being sloppy? Did I forget something?
  15. Is this really a wow? Because I don't want to be the stinkaroonie, but I'm looking at this .292 on-base percentage, which followed a .238 last year, and it's not moving my heart. I certainly welcome his glove and his power, but I'm not thinking that these were what the team was lacking.
  16. Wait, am I really supposed to throw a party because the team is giving up a movie-star first-round draft pick for the league leader in strikeouts, with only 15 walks on the other side of the ledger?
  17. Yeah, all I'm suggesting is that he could still lead among pitchers in any of the varying calculations for WAR. If he's only 0.3 behind Wheeler, it's certainly not inconceivable that he could outpace a field of one.
  18. That would be a Holy Guacamole situation. I figured Seagar was due back shortly. Is the idea to use Turner at short for a few days and then move him to second?
  19. Bullpen shmullpen.

It says here that he's quit us and gone looking for another lady. But as many times as we might call our mama and tell her it's all over, mama knows different and fully expects his dirty boots to be up on the sofa the next time she comes visiting.
  21. Damn. Terrific job by Smith pitching to Nim.
