  5. 2022 free agents suck.
  6. Also, congratulations to Anthony Banda for edging Billy McKinney in the No-Longer-with-the-Mets Player of the Month race — a contest with a surprisingly broad field.
  7. I opened up this thread and stupidly looked at the first set of cards as if they represented July, and immediately asked, "How did we fail to give Drury BPotM?!!
  8. You can't wait? I'm not even certain I understand the first sentence.
  9. I'm not sure what media you're referencing. I'd be surprised to find out that the Mets are leaking offseason free agent targets in August. As for patterns of behavior, one team wins and 29 lose. You can look for a distinct pattern of behavior in every case, and wait until they are in a losing streak to connect all the dots, but the reality is that some teams may well do absolutely everything right and still lose.
  10. All that's true. He's not valueless, but the Pete-Crow Armstrong ticket might have purchased the team something they need. I just don't didn't believe that he brought anything that Guillorme and Villar and the exected return of Lindor had already showed the Mets to be wealthier in. He added to their depth but he didn't raise the bar anywhere. They're a well oiled out-making machine right now, hoping against hope that the places they are strong could make up for that. But instead of improving where they are weakest, they doubled down on what they are. I just think, philosophically, that it's cheaper, easier and smarter, to improve in the areas where you are below the mean.
  11. Well, that would be a catalyst for the Dodgers, but sure.

Yeah, it's at the bottom of the minors, but still worth pointing out. This speaks to the great advantage that guys named Chandler get in life. I just found out that his nickname is "Nitro," and there should always be a place in my heart for a player that shares his tag with an American Gladiator. It'll be interesting to see the Dodgers go to the post-season giving some of Trevor Bauer's innings to Nick Tropeano. 13. =TransMonk post_id=73933 time=1628520842 user_id=71] It's really hard to imagine an impetus right now.
  14. That's a workable thesis. A critical divide between Team 'Murica and Team Puerto Rico, exacerbated by who is healthy and on the field at a given time, with neither of the young, first-time managers able to get a lid on it. I don't know that I'm ready to put my chips on it, but it's worth exploring.
  15. =ashie62 post_id=73918 time=1628470688 user_id=90]Same with Lindor
  16. I have to think they have one more run in them, but whether that will be enough or in time is a much more open question. The decision to go for Baez remains ever-puzzling to me. Everybody insists they bring the latest science to developing and deploying their teams, but Baez is the epitome of a guy that art loves and science hates.
  17. Well, that was mostly efficient.
  18. So, 1 for 25. Is that merely sucking? Or is it still fucking sucking?
  19. They've been strangely fortunate in that odd catalysts have come at opportune moments — the Pillar saga, the Mazeika walkoffs, the six-hop throw to first by Stroman, Du-Rag-Gate ... . In fact, looking at those last two items, it would be foolish to sleep on Stroman's catalytic potential, even after that farce of a trip to the plate last night.
  20. NOT. Alright. I'm sorry. I seem to have lied.
  21. Best eye in the league, and even Nimmo won't take a strike in the ninth down by more than one.
  22. Seemingly, the base to drive a Met in from is home plate. Even moreso in Philly.
  23. Can I interest you in a cup of Bryce?
  24. Nobody left on base that inning!
