  1. =kcmets post_id=42646 time=1596404252 user_id=53] 316 G, .279 AVG, 76 HR, 205 RBI and .883 OPS
  2. I thought all the NYM hitters opted out this afternoon.

  4. And what a fitting way to end the game: get multiple runners on w/no outs ... and then follow that with a 3-pitch K, a weak-ass pop fly, and an even weaker-ass groundout. The runners not only didn't score, they didn't even budge. And tomorrow is a deGrom game so we've got no fucking chance there.
  5. Freddie does with one pitch what two dozen NYM batters have failed to do for 2-1/2 days now ... drive in a run from 2nd base.
  6. It's also tough to go 0-5 (and, yes, I've written this one off already) despite getting opposing starters out of the game with regularity Eovaldi (BOS) - 5 innings Perez (BOS) - 5.2 Bewcombe (ATL) - 4.1 Toussaint (ATL) 4.0 Wright (ATL) - 3.1
  7. Mets have had 11 baserunners, Braves have had six. Mets have had the leadoff runner on in four of the six innings, the Braves have had their top guy on in one ... and yet we've never been in the game.
  8. Stop me if you've heard this one: multiple runners on followed by K, GiDP
  9. Now 2-for-their-last-22 w/RiSP (w/Rosie's IF single) but still Neither One has knocked in a run!!
  10. =ashie62 post_id=42567 time=1596391758 user_id=90] Maybe it is covid related
  11. And lookie here ... yet another situation with multiple runners on is greeted by yet another weak-ass grounder followed by a K This has now morphed from statistical anomaly to team-wide gross incompetence.
  12. Another leadoff hit ... so no chance of scoring this inning.
  13. Tough to find a more incompetent stretch of RiSP hitting in like ... oh maybe the history of the planet. Every inning there are multiple runners on and we've yet to not only get a runner in but yet to get a ball out of the infield. We're up to something like 1 of the last 17 w/RiSP and even that one hit didn't knock in a run. Someone would have to do some digging to find the actual last hit to score a run. And now here are the braves getting runs in with weak grounders and walks.
  14. You also don't want to go around twittering monitors, cuz those is mean lizards and if you get them mad they'll rip your lungs out Jim.
  15. Shouldn't a game with guys named Wright and Peterson pitching be played at an Air Force Base in Ohio?
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: Meanwhile, the game is more than two hours old and we're basically at halftime. Welcome to AL/DH baseball. It's a fuckfest. Yeah, but don't hang too much of this just on the DH Wacha threw 96 pitches just to get through the 4th, and Kilome needed 21 to complete his lone inning On the other side, starter Toussaint needed 74 to get thru 4 despite giving up just 3 hits, and then two relievers combined for 31 in the 5th Put another way, the Mets threw basically 8 innings of normal pitching and the Braves 7 frames worth just to get through the 5th, or about half again as many as would be a normal workload.
  17. Now two consecutive innings w/bases-loaded and <2 outs results in a grand total of one run. And even the lone hit w/RiSP didn't even cash in a run. Meanwhile, the game is more than two hours old and we're basically at halftime.
  18. First two guys on, then a walk loads the bases ... and no runs because no one else gets the ball out of the IF (2 Ks)
  19. The other thing is pitch count. I saw a list a few days ago of most pitches by one team over one season in baseball history. Now that's a bit misleading in that 'baseball history' in this case means since 1988 which I guess is when reliable pitch count data started being recorded. But that's still 30 seasons or nearly 900 team/seasons even if we toss out the shortened '94 & '95 seasons which aren't going to appear on a list of highest cumulative totals. Anyway, the top two teams were the 2019 Red Sox and the 2019 Orioles, and I think it was six of the top 20 ever occurred in 2019 The highest 300 teams were listed and a majority of those were the most recent decade while there were all of two or three seasons from the '90s. So lots more pitches being thrown but with many fewer being put into play ... that's a bad combination.

If they hit 'en hard, it's a hit. If they hit 'em soft, it's a hit. There's a bit of correlation between the incidence of these things and how shitty your team is at getting to and catching balls in flight. That can be a factor, sure. But it seems like I've seen more fisted pieces o' shit flares that three Usain Bolts couldn't get within 30 feet of, or dribblers that you know are hits by bounce #2

  22. I think Korea, and really much of east Asia in general, tend to be less individualistic societies. The whole idea of not wanting to screw up because it might embarrass your family/friends/team/company/hometown leads to less boat-rocking and a lot more line-toeing.
  23. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=42476 time=1596326567 user_id=68] When's deGrom's next start?
  24. The Mets have scored 11 runs this season (8 games + 2 innings) with two outs. The Braves have scored 10 two-out runs in their last 10 innings!! ... five of their 11 Friday night runs (including the game winners) plus all five so far tonight.
  25. Hey check it out, more two out runs coughed up!
