  1. Halfway through and we're only at the two hour mark!!!
  2. None of the guys mentioned it but, given Freeman's propensity for walks (which they did mention), Nimmo's abandoning of his patience by going after the first-pitch w/the bases loaded to end inning #3 was ... a disappointing choice. And on that note, Freeman exits.
  3. I could definitely get used to the defense from this middle infield duo.

  5. =ashie62 post_id=43510 time=1597259811 user_id=90]By the way it is HOT HOT HOT out
  6. Probably. Being dead would definitely be a drag on the writing quality.
  7. The Lugo Option wasn't one of Robert Ludlum's better novels.

  9. Tack on another 0-4 to a RiSP that was at .213 before the game began And w/2 outs and RiSP it was .139 so now that's lower too.
  10. So after we got two on w/one out in the 7th: GiDP - K - K - GO - K - PO - K ... and I bet the whole sequence didn't take a total of 20 pitches. Only the pop-out left the infield although it was caught by an infielder so that doesn't really count either.
  11. So, as Gary just mentioned, the Marlins & Blue Jays are headed to the 10th inning after the Jays got 3 in top 9 to tie it. But here's the real question: Seeing as how the game is being played in Buffalo, if the Jays wind up winning this thing should we refer to it as a 'shuffle-off win?
  12. Whatever we need, whenever we need it ... we get the exact opposite.
  13. Soto is a marvelous hitter but he's a sub-par fielder at best.
  14. So I (not surprisingly) bailed on Monday night's game so I didn't hear whether or not Gary revisited the topic of the 'Mercy Rule' that he brought up earlier in the game while noting the lopsided Phils/Braves score. What he said was that, in the midst of a pandemic season, that ending a game early is something they should adopt when the score is so one-sided. Little did he realize that the Mets were soon to be in an even more lopsided situation. Anyway, the kicker to all this is that the Braves put up a 7-spot in the 9th inning. They still lost by a not-all-that-close score of 13-8, but it brings up the problem of what exactly qualifies as deserving of a mercy ending.
  15. If it's a one or two inning 'bullpen start' then it hardly matters whether he starts or relieves or even and who starts and who relieves.
  16. =MFS62 post_id=43402 time=1597181258 user_id=60]So, will they give Gsellman a gstart on Wednesday?
  17. This was the same (seemingly lopsided) pitching matchup from six days ago, a game which the Mets won 3-1. Porcello was terrific for 7 innings and Lugo just as good over the final 2. Scherzer, on the other hand, struggled through the 1st (1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 27 pitches) then left with a "Tight Hamstring" (not sure whether it was his blue hamstring or his brown one). Nats have so far played only AL East teams (3-6) and the Mets (2-1) -- no Braves, no Marlins, no Phillies, and also no BoSox -- and even with last night's outburst, they're still near the bottom of both leagues in RS/G

  20. 3 HRs served up by Matz ... and NYM bats have failed in 3 RiSP situations. iow, I'll have the usual
  21. So how's this for a first impression ... The Braves claimed six year veteran [sDP, PIT] starter/reliever Robbie Erlin off waivers from the Pirates this weekend to shore up their injured staff (see Siroka, Mike) So when starter Sean Newcombe got into early trouble they brought Erlin in for his ATL debut in the 2nd inning in a bases loaded situation ... and his very first pitch for his new team: Grand Slam (to Didi Gregorius) 12-1 Philly in the 5th
  22. Dooley has said that "REFUND!?!" is his version of 'Here's Looking at you Kid' or, 'I coulda been a contender', a line that he has repeated to him by everyone from cabdrivers to folks on the street.
  23. I've given up fewer ML runs than Kilome.
  24. I'm available.
