  1. I can't remember the last time McNeil hit a ball hard.
  2. HBP, Double-error, Wild Pitch ... or, as the Mets call it, an offensive rally!!
  3. Maybe they should try NOT swinging with soggy rolled-up newspapers. The contact might be a bit better with something else (say wood maybe) and a ball might possibly get out of the infield.
  4. Problem with being down by four runs (no matter how many innings you get) is that we'll need at least 20 baserunners just to cash in four of them.
  5. Wacha: 31 pitches in the 1st inning Montgomery: 32 pitches thru 2 outs in the 3rd
  6. I think Wacha threw as many pitches to Sanchez as Montgomery did in the entire first inning (13). And I wasn't exactly high on Alonso breaking the K-streak.
  7. Down 2-0 while we're still waiting for our first contact with a pitch. And you hate coughing up two runs in an inning where they hit ONE ball hard.
  8. Quickie MFY KTE (as I've seen almost none of their games this season): -- 16-11 but that's after losing their last 5 straight (TBR x 3 then a DH to the Braves) and are suddenly 2.5 games in back of Tampa in the AL East -- Anyone who had 1st sacker Luke Voit as the team's leading HR hitter step up and collect your prize. The former 22nd round pick by StL now has 46 HRs as a NYY (11 this season) in a little over one full season's worth of games (180) after hitting all of five in pieces of two seasons (70 games) w/the Cards. The Yanx traded Chasen Shreve to get him back on the 2018 trading deadline -- Of course part of the reason Voit is leading the team is that Giancarlo Stanton (3 HRs) is out (stop the presses!!) and Aaron Judge (9) is out, DJ LeMahieu (2) is out, and now Gleyber Torres (1) is also out Those four combined to hit 712 HRs (or something close to that) in 2019 -- Catcher Gary Sanchez, who seems to lurch between being very dangerous and a complete mess, is currently in the 'mess' stage: .139/.253/.361 in 72 ABs On defense he's constantly a mess. Brett Gardner (36 y/o) might also be slip-slidin' towards his sell-by date: .172/.290/.362 -- We'll see lefty Jordan Montgomery is the 1st game: 4 starts this year, 19.1 IP, 10 Runs on 18 Hits, 3 BB, 14 K, 3 HR He missed the back half of 2018 and most of 2019 with UCL surgery. -- They can go fuck themselves.
  9. I think they're starting to sour on Nimmo, not as an overall player but certainly as a CF'er. The last few games haven't helped him much there. Billy Hamilton was in CF in last night's (faux) starting lineup and now Marisnick, two guys who have barely been w/the team all year.
  10. During the intro Gary mentioned that the umps weren't yet on the field and there had yet to be an exchange of lineup cards, but then added that this is done electronically these days anyway. Without lineup cards -- and it sounds like it was known by all insiders at least an hour or so in advance that this game wasn't going to be played -- there's certainly no way to commit the teams to a specific lineup when the game gets made up. And even if official cards were submitted, I doubt it happens.
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It's so much nicer to have guys like him on our team than someone like Aubrey Huff. Aubrey Huff, btw, is at it again with a (say it with me folks) "since deleted tweet" where he praised the Kenosha shooter. Not the cop but the 17 y/o who killed two in one of the ensuing protest/riots. Called him a "national treasure".
  12. But you gotta love the idea that BVW talks about how the ongoing conversation 'can never leave this room' and yet not only do they somehow not realize that it's being filmed as they're speaking but that the clip then winds up being uploaded to the freakin' team website'!!!! In a goofy crime caper flick that part of the script gets rejected as being too implausible.
  13. #3 is Mr. Double State Capital: Austin Jackson

Answer to my own question NY Post: ... aspiring sports journalist Nick Albicocco stumbled across [the video] on the team's website as he searched for the status of Thursday's game. “I found the video on Mets.com when I went to look for an update on whether they would play tonight,” Albicocco, a 20-year-old diehard Mets fan, told The Post. “It was sitting on their home page for who knows how long. When I heard [Van Wagenen's comments,] I couldn't believe it.” Unbelievable!
  15. a) who the hell is filming that? who the hell is leaking that?
  16. Wacha now listed as tonight's starter.
  17. I'm betting that at least one of them will be started by someone named Steven Matz

  19. McNeil's foot for MVP!!! ... or at least for some Schaefer points.
  20. Don't the new rules allow us to run Hamilton for Ramos too?
  21. Edgy MD wrote: BRAD BRACH?!?! Who do you prefer at this point?
  22. deGrom has to feel like this is a recurring cruel joke.
  23. We always manage to find one reliever each night who doesn't have it. Unfortunately for Jake, tonight it's the first guy up.
