  1. =kcmets post_id=45204 time=1598808517 user_id=53] 27 pitch first for Porky, attaboy...
  2. It's a good day for baseball, let's play 1.556
  3. I saw it, and you reviewed it better than I could have. The early years story was informative. But then after the initial rounds of success not a whole lot happens that's all that interesting. Yeah, you toured, you partied, you fought, you drugged, this one quit, that one didn't quit ... lather, rinse, repeat. Not sure that part of their story is a whole lot different from most bands. After that, entire decades were skipped over because there wasn't enough to talk about. As an H-o-F act they strike me as closer to Chris Sabo [RoY, couple of seasons w/back-ballot MVP votes, then pretty much done as a full-timer by age 29] than they are to some on-the-brink toss-up. btw, does every act not in the H-o-F personally blame Jann Wenner? I know RUSH fans were sure he had it in for them right up until the moment of their induction.
  4. Scott Kingery walks-off the Braves with an Amed Rosario-like 2R H in the 11th The Nats thumped the Orioles tonight and the Marlins lost to the Rays so the division just got a whole lot tighter and our place init a whole lot better.
  5. As I said in the KTE - those guys can go fuck themselves.
  6. It slipped my mind for a second that they were the home team and that, therefore, the game was over.
  7. Nimmo becomes a travellin' man w/a two-out RBI hit.
  8. Nobody warming up behind Nick Nelson so it's all on his for the moment. We should be having a garden party against this guy.
  9. Amazing how quickly things start to roll once Jeffy is banished to stand in the hall. P.S. Bet they don't get $2.6 B out of him this time.

  11. For a season which started almost exclusively with night games, this week features mostly games under the sun. Today's Game 1 was a 4:00 start Tomorrow (Sat) was the only non-Sunday 1:00 scheduled start of the year. Sunday is another 1:00 DH start, so that's two more day games Monday is the make-up game from Thursday's protest abandonment and that's a 1:00 start Tuesday (Sept 1st already) is a night game but Wednesday's game in Baltimore has now been moved to 4:00 Thursday make-up w/the Yanx (finally at CitiField) is a 4:00 start And then the four-game series at CF vs the Phils starts with Fri night & Sat night games, but then both Sunday and Labor Day Monday are 1:00 day games So that's eight day games out of twelve, starting today and going through a week from Monday. After that, pretty much everything is under the (artificial) lights through the end of the season.
  12. iow, thanks for bailing out Wacha and the win ... now get out!
  13. If this game gets rained out, will they replay it as part of a DH with next week's game and move that one to Yanqui Stadium too? And while we're on the subject, has ANY logical explanation been given for why BOTH of this weekend's DHs had to be played in the Bronx?

  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Two outs to go... Jordy Mercer? Any relation to Bobby? (Is Bobby still alive?) Not even spelled the same [bobby Murcer] And, no, Bobby got a nasty case of cancer and died years ago. Now maybe he's related to songwriter Johnny Mercer ... but I doubt it.
  16. Strike 3 at 98 mph Ford didn't fare well vs that Ferrari
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Looking at the highlights, it looks like Wacha didn't really have that bad a game. He mostly fell victim to more than his share of seeing eye-grounders and doinks. And walking and hitting guys.
  18. =ashie62 post_id=45034 time=1598653691 user_id=90] Edwin Diaz in the 7th. Nah
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I no longer want Betances to get the seventh inning. Not crazy about the idea of Diaz either, though. Where do you stand on Familia?
  20. =bmfc1 post_id=45006 time=1598652579 user_id=73]A Jake-Rake?
  21. If it wasn't for the season-long disappointments, you could almost say you saw that one coming. He had that previous fastball timed even as he fouled it back, and then he laid off the breaking ball in the dirt to earn himself another heater.
  22. Y'know what would be a nice improvement to the mound visit rule? ... the team gets charged for each Person that visits the mound. So, in this case, the catcher going out only to be joined by the manager a half of minute later would count as two against the allotted five.
  23. Seeing Miguel Andujar look bad at the plate and in the field today stirred memories of me warning that he was fool's gold during past trade discussions ... and I just found them. July '19: To me Andujar's got a definite shot-his-load/soph-slump/sell-high type of vibe to him ... the Yanx would love to cash in on at the expense of some GM Jan '20: Miguel Andujar sucks. That team improved because of his injury. A one-year wonder at best.
  24. Story of 2020: We give up two-outs RBI hits, but don't get any of them.
