  1. The move to the better fielding, though shorter, 1st sacker, almost cost us there.
  2. Two strike threes looking in that half inning, both with a runner(s) on.

  4. Best. Blown. Ball. Four. Call .... EVER!!!
  5. Then maybe let's not act as if his one ML start this year has cemented him as a failure for all time.
  6. Bassitt will be replaced by Peterson tonight while Bassitt goes to the IL with what is said to be a 'non-injury issue'. Hmmmmmm

  8. JMcA, we were told, has lived in Texas for a long time now. Probably been many years since he was in the bustling metropolis that is Lost Nation, Iowa.
  9. "HAPPY BOBBY BONILLA DAY" -- or, as it's known in Bristol Connecticut, the one day of the year their SC anchors willingly discuss baseball.
  10. =roger_that post_id=97853 time=1656675695 user_id=128] Wait--is that Jim McA himself? On the left I presume?
  11. 13 - 4 is your phinal in Philly And it turns out the Yanx can't hit Houston pitching either 2 - 1 Astros as their two week long New York New York tour continues.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: I really don't mind if Ian Anderson sits this one out. And with the Phils there to help him he probably will. 12-3 Phils, top five. 7 earned on Anderson's ledger And speaking of an NL East team failing to get the 3rd out, the Nats allowed a run that shouldn't have scored Wednesday night because they failed to properly secure that all-important 4th out!!. - Runners on 2nd (Park) and 3rd (Suwinski) for the Pirates, 1 out - Ke'Bryan Hayes lines out to 1B but both runners failed to read the play (ball was caught just off the dirt) and ran anyway. - the throw went to 3rd where they tagged out Park running from 2nd ... but Suwinski crossed the plate prior to the tag. - So Suwinski's run ordinarily wouldn't count, right? ... except that the Nats have to appeal the fact that he never tagged up. And there are processes to appealing a play, one of which means you have to do so prior to the ball being put in play again, OR, in the case of the 3rd out, Prior to the fielders leaving the field ... and the Nats left the field before realizing their omission. The Pitt manager was out of the dugout pretty quickly and got the umps to confab. Davey Martinez on the other hand, asleep at the switch maybe? So the run counts AND ... wait for it, the Nats wound up losing by a run. I'd like to think that that's the kind of thing that rule book nerds like Buck (or Bobby) would have caught before it was too late. btw: If the Nats HAD properly appealed that the runner on 3B never tagged it would have been recorded as a 4th out of the inning. It wouldn't change anything (aside from taking the run off the board) and it's not like they'd only have to get two outs in the next inning but, for record keeping purposes, four put-outs would have gone into the books on that one. 13. Early start (6:10) for the final game of the ATL/PHI series. Braves loaded the bases w/no outs in top 2.. but then Nola got a K a a GiDP ball ... except that, after taking the flip from 2B, Didi Gregorius thought there were already two outs so he never threw to 1st! Ooops ... runs scores, inning continues. On the plus side, Philly is in the midst of slapping a Seven-spot on Ian Anderson in the bottom of the 2nd and there's still only one out. In Wednesday night's game, Mark Appel made his ML debut out of the Phils pen, 13 yers after the Tigers drafted him in the 8th round out of HS (didn't sign), ten years after the Pirates drafted him with the 8th overall pick out of Stanford (didn't sign) and nine years after the Astros drafted him with the #1 overall pick. After reaching AA & AAA in both the HOU org (2011 - 2015) and PHI org (2016 & 2017) and making several top-100 prospect lists, he didn't play at all in 2018, 2019 or 2020. He returned to the Philly org last season and got the call up this week. This leaves just the two NYC draft picks, Steve Chilcott and Brien Taylor, as the only 1/1 draft picks to never reach the major leagues.
  14. Is he the one they called ‘Moms' or something like that? Yeah, he was a real, soft-spoken, modest sort of guy and they teased him about that. I thought he got jobbed by the tyranny of W-L records--he lost a bunch of games that the Mets didn't score for him and he never really got a shot a full-time starting job, I think, in large part because of that. We heard that Jim was a the type to hang around the Post Office and catch up on the gossip kind of guy when back in his home town. But he wasn't there when we dropped by Instagram WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM
  15. Braves beat Phils again (4-1) Lead down to 3 games.

Yes, although there's [the stats showing] the exit velo of JDD's fly out topping two of the three Astro HRs tonight.

  18. The good news is that they're not going to lose this game tonight ... because at this pace there's no way it's going to be over before midnight.
  19. Matt Snell isn't playing anymore either.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: ... although they'll probably wind up winning this one. Yup. Yanx score six runs on four hits, three of them HRs. For the series they amassed 15 hits in 37 innings, winding up with 14 runs and a 2 - 2 split
  21. The Yanx were, until a minute ago, being no-hit again. They now have one (a HR of course) and trail 3-1 after 7 So that was 15 straight no-hit innings (16 when you toss on the 9th of Friday's game). Shyeeeet, they only had 6 hits in the (Thurs) game they won and then 5 on Friday. This brings their grand total to 12 across 34 innings in this series. Jus' sayin'... although they'll probably wind up winning this one so I should shut up.
  22. Not our highest priority right now (except maybe for bmfc) but the Nats just lost on a walk-off HR Braves/Dodgers on FOX at 7 Phils in SD late tonight
  23. Pete: 'Hey Jimmy, Yack-a-Bone THIS'!
