Phillies in their vintage powder blue and maroon w/racing stripe unis for this home game. Regular road grays for Braves. Atlanta comes out first pitch hacking in top one; a K, two singles and two GOs on just 10 pitches. Acuna not in the lineup, not sure why. Switching games for a minute: Judge walks in his 1st AB
There has apparently been talks about adding Kay to the Apple TV+ 'team' for the Friday game but it's unclear even if those talks are real much less the likelihood of it happening. One thing IS clear and that's that the game will NOT be simulcast on YES
Cole Irvin, 28, former 5th round pick of the Phils in 2016 out of U-Oregon (He's a DUCK!!) Full time starter last two years. Low K-rate for this era, but also low BBs, low H/9, good WHIP (1.1) league avg ERA Never heard of him prior to this moment.
The Braves will post two results prior to our next one (barring rain) as they begin a four game eastern time zone series in Philadelphia starting tonight. Braves lead the season series 9-6 so far, thanks largely to a recent three game sweep in Atlanta. Lefties Max Fried and Ranger Suarez kick it off. Zack Wheeler is off the IL but pitched (briefly) yesterday so won't appear in this one. Be nice if Bryce Harper opts to show up for this series [1/12 w/5 Ks last week]
So NC has a state house, the Biltmore Estate, some mountains, a city from the 1930's, a coast line, the Duke Chapel, and I don't know what is going on inside N and A
So Judge is on the verge of HR #61 (and beyond) just as the BoSox come in for a four game set starting tonight. So that's great if you're a YLDB with a ticket but not so much if you're a TV viewer or, say, Michael Kay or one of thei other announcers looking to be part of the fun. Thursday is a FOX exclusive Friday is an Apple+ game!! Saturday will be done via local outlets but then Sunday is property of ESPN The Apple game really has fans pissed off but MLB has refused to budge off it as this is exactly the sort of 'national interest' game they want to be available everywhere (for a price Ugarte, for a price).
Good lord, someone was better against thei mid-sixties Mets than he was against the rest of the NL as a whole?!?!? Well That certainly proves a trend that's relevant six decades later!
Culp was 112-99 against everyone else, but 10-2 against the Mets. His lifetime ERA was 3.58 but 2.59 against the Mets. He was the first example I thought of. I was in the Army with a virulent SPhillies fan, and he tormented me about how the Mets couldn't beat Culp and Larry Jackson. I you're taking about mental health, I'm crazy about the Mets. Later Please STOP!!!!

Frayed Knot wrote: Bottom 9 in hot 'lanta 8-9-1 due up Grossman grounds out Finnegan on for the save, btw Grissom Ks on a borderline 3 - 2 pitch And now it's Acuna: strike 1, strike 2, ball 1, ball 2, foul, foul, ball 3, ... HE STRUCK HIM OUT!!
