  1. Well I can confirm that they won't be grafting a new elbow ligament to his shoulder.
  2. Pete apparently went yapping -- "Throw that pitch again ... throw it again" -- at Braves starter Bryce Elder following the flat slider.he hit out of the park last night. Not sure if anything specific prompted that (I wouldn't have picked Pete as a big trash talker) and some stuff certainly pre-dates just yesterday. But, whatever started this, yapping like that from the dugout will only fuel the fire.
  3. If he returns from this TJS in the normal time frame (say in time for OD 2025) he'll still have three years remaining on his contract. Why would he refuse surgery and effectively end his career now?
  4. I blame the phantom rain delay.
  5. Edgy MD wrote: Way too busy inning for McNeil here. He tracks that first one better and it's a whole different inning. Metrics said that one had a 14% chance of being a hit.
  6. The Brady Bunch theme from the organist for Baty? Then Mr Ed for Eduardo? Coupla swing and misses there IMO
  7. So these are those two out RBI hit things I've been hearing so much about?
  8. I've known a lot of odd Met posters. Or at least have read some of their stuff.
  9. The supposed first pitch will be 9 PM Of course had they started on time they'd be in the 4th inning by now.
  10. "Thunderstorms likely" through 9 PM
  11. Still not as bad a contract as the extension Strasburg signed with the Nats in the winter of '19/'20* His deal was less on a per/year basis but also longer and, though it's not yet official, his career is likely over. *$245 mil, he'spitched 31 innings and will probably throw no more
  12. =ashie62 post_id=127753 time=1686085535 user_id=90] Arcia is at SS Albies 2b And Harris at CF tonight (who's on first) I am misunderstanding
  13. Quickie KTE: - Acuna's OPS in 1st innings is like 4000 which is why the Braves start 75% of their games up 3-0 after 1 - Olson has become a three true outcomes guy - Riley is down from the MVP type pace he was on the last two years - Sean Murphy is the best hitting catcher in baseball - Eddie Rosario's stats aren't great even though I've yet to see him make an out this season - Albies in RF (usually 2B) is an odd change So is Arcia at 2B (SS) and Harris at SS (CF) and Rosario in CF (LF) !?!? Bryce Elder is good
  14. I wondered about that whole fan allegiance thing as I watch clips of fans in the stands wearing their Golden Knights jerseys going mad over their team. Who are these people? New hockey fans? Transplanted Canadians or other longtime fans who adopted the GKs upon moving to LV? Total non-hockey fans who are riding the wave both of LV getting their first top-level professional sports team and of that team's immediate success? Bandwagon jumpers who'll be gone at the first speed bump?
  15. Last night the A's were up 3-0 thru 4 innings in Pittsburgh before losing that lead. They tied it up at 4-4 in the 8th then had bases loaded w/one out ... but couldn't push across more. Pirates scored once in bottom 8 for a 5-4 lead Oakland then got two singles and a double in the 9th ... but still managed to NOT score. [1B, CS, 2B, IF-1B, Short FO, K] 12 - 50, .194, on pace for 31 wins
  16. I've long been wary of sports teams in Vegas, not because of the gambling angle (at least not solely) but because of some of the issues brought up here. Las Vegas is an 'Event' town: prize fights, Super Bowls, conventions, etc. are made for that place. It's also a transient town, I mean is anyone actually from Vegas? It's a growing city for sure so that question is less a joke than it used to be but, still, on any given day at least half the population has got to be just visiting there from somewhere else and are going to be gone is a couple days, something that doesn't tend to lend itself to an everyday sport like baseball which depends on the existence of a hometown crowd. Altering your start times from the norm to play into the idea that baseball is a mere sideshow just seems to acknowledge that fact. Now maybe if I were following hockey more closely I'd rethink all this as I haven't heard that the NHL's Golden Knights are having issues although they've also enjoyed unprecedented success right out of the expansion gate to the point where they're currently two wins away from winning Lord Stanley's trophy which is too ridiculous for my mind to contemplate and I'm not even Canadian. I mean, how do you feel as a Maple Leafs fan when your last SC dates back to before the elder Trudeau was Prime Minister and now here's some team from the American desert about to win the cup in their (3rd, 4th?) year of existence, and against another sun belt team to boot?
  17. And for that stretch he was today named NL player of the week
  18. Travis Jankowski has resurfaced with the Rangers and made Two HR-robbing catches on Sunday. One was definitely over the fence in RCF, the other at least on the top of the wall in dead central (as Keith would call it). Would be nice to see him stay healthy for more than a few weeks at a time for a change. It also doesn't look like he's had a haircut since we've last seen him.
  19. This move from the 15- to the 60-day IL is likely more one of accounting than a real change in status or a set-back. It precludes a return any earlier than late June but that was pretty much in the cards anyway.
  20. That Nido received as many ABs as he did over the years is as much a testament to the inability of the other backstops, the ones he was supposedly backing up, to hit a whole lot better than him (JMcC) and/or stay on the field (Td'A)
  21. And didn't R.C. once play golf with Soupcan's dad? There was some story about that way back when. Maybe the lurking 'Can will tear himself away from the super secret alternate forum he posts on and fill us in on the deets.
  22. I had lost track of 2021 NYM Miguel Castro. Well he's now with the DBacks where he's having a good season so far following a so-so one with the Yanx last year ... until today anyway. Snakes brought him in the protect a one run lead vs the Braves in top 9 where he gave up a 2-out GS to Eddie Rosario. So it looks like one of the teams will have some momentum heading into the start of the series on Tuesday. 8-5 final in the desert.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Iwo Jima survivor for the veteran of the game. In a game with two Japanese starting pitchers. Just sayin'
  24. One run every 18 innings ain't gonna get it done.
  25. That was the kind of pitch that Vlad's daddy hit all the time.
