  1. Just prior to Nimmo's bomb I was about to say that it would be nice to see us really strafe a pitcher. We haven't done much of that recently (except, oddly, to Strider).
  2. Stanford survived to advance to That game when their previous game's pitcher got them a win with a 156 pitch performance!
  3. I dunno. It seems to me that they've been hitting a ton of pop-ups -- particularly Pete and Lindor -- and it's unlikely that those are just going to start falling in anytime soon.
  4. Braves give up one in the 8th, three in the 9th, then one in the 10th to fall to Detroit 6-5 after having led the whole game. So somebody can beat that team ... even if it's not us.
  5. A's suddenly on a five game winning streak after taking the final two from (sigh) the Pirates and then sweeping the Brewers If their streaking and ours continue at recent paces we may have to change this thread title to 2023 Athletics vs 2023 Mets On the flip side, they start a four game series against the Rays tonight so maybe we're still safe for a little while longer.
  6. So the just completed weekend series in YSIII was the first for Yanx/Sawx this year. And the ToGs were: 2:28, 2:29, and an extended commercial time (for ESPN/SNB) with extra innings to boot which went 2:51 Now all the games were low scoring so that helped a bit but only one of the three was won by the home team in 8-1/2 and one, as mentioned, went 10. And besides, we all know that those two squads have spent years turning games with an average 3-1/2 runs scored into 3-1/2 hour affairs with no trouble at all, so the combined 7:48 would, in past years, have likely clocked in somewhere north of 10 hours with no trouble at all.
  7. I hope [Murphy] tells Ohtani how great it is to be a Met. Ohtani: "If it was so great over there white boy how come you left at the first opportunity?"
  8. Sawx win, Thaaaaaaa Sawx Win!!!! This, btw, was the first Yanx/Sawx series of the season ... in mid-June!! But, hey, each team gets a guaranteed series against the Reds each year so, y'know, there's that.
  9. It's not so much that the Yanx want all the calls to go their way. Hell, every team wants the calls to go their way. The difference is that the Yanx expect the majority to be in their favor. Not sure that there's been a borderline B/S call tonight that they haven't bitched about.
  10. Tampa took two of three this weekend from Texas in a matchup of the AL's top two teams. TBR keeps rolling, that's 8 of their last 9
  11. Yeah, this isn't evidence of a 'shakeup', it's a guy rumored to be a NYM target for years now but will be free of contractual obligations this winter. If they had the same record as last year this same story would likely still surface.
  12. Braves coming up bottom 8th down 6-2 vs the Nats... so I'm trying to decide how many runs they're going to win by.
  13. Getting the ball out of the infield? Yeah, that's not really our thing.
  14. I was only half-listening as they came back from commercial, but did Gary and Ron just credit Sister Sledge with WE ARE FAMILY?
  15. And thru 6 innings the Mets have 2 hits.
  16. Right move pulling Carrasco here. Only 2 runs but hasn't had a single clean inning and has been helped by several loud outs.
  17. Three IF grounders hit by the Pirates in bottom 2nd and the Mets turned all three cleanly into outs ... so that's, y'know, an improvement.
  18. There's a video of the ensuing argument where the HP Ump tells Yogi that Harrelson was tagged on the butt. ... it's a damn joke" counters L. P. Berra There are maybe three famous HP plays where video doesn't definitely give us the 'correct' answer: - Jackie stealing home vs Yogi - Harrelson/Mays/Yogi vs Oakland - the Jeter flip
  19. Lefty Specialist wrote: Boy that Alvaboom just kept carrying. Yes, but it was too close to Not going out for him to be not running. Turned out not to matter but it could have.
  20. Wear your glove like heaven, Brandon
  21. I'm having trouble keeping track of these guys much less remembering any specific things about them.
  22. Some super clutch 9th innings hitting after I cashed it in last night I see.
  23. But they were trying to do that.
  24. Has a team ever gone from 101 wins to 101 losses in one season?
