  1. Little known fact: when filling out the roster of Snow White's dwarves, Smyly & Wisdom were the final two cuts.
  2. This is how they were scoring prior to this past week: almost all the runs coming via solo HRs or on outs (Sac Flies, GOs) where a hit c/would have plated multiples.
  3. Too few opportunities and then making the least of the ones we had.
  4. Jays currently up 20-1 on the Rays in Tampa
  5. So the extra runs in this inning all stem from the reversed call at 2B that was anything but definitive.
  6. Early leads? Nah! We don't do those either.
  7. This Bobby Miller guy for LAD acquired the nickname Bobby Hundred in the minors for his fastball regularly hitting triple digits. He gave up a run to the Braves in bottom 1st but the Dodgers put up three more on Strider in the 2nd for a 4-1 lead.
  8. 1st inning runs? Nah! We don't do those.
  9. Been a bit lax on our TWiBbing lately, but the Dodgers are visiting Atlanta so that's a series worthy of keeping an eye on. They actually started yesterday while most of us were taking a night off from baseball. Brave jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st (cuz that's what they do most nights) but this time they wound up getting out-scored 8-2 the rest of the way for an 8-6 LAD win with Charlie Morton taking it on the chin. In game 2, just under way now, Spenser Strider is on the mound like he is in about 3/4 of Braves games I see. They must use other pitchers but I'll be damned if I ever see any. And now a single through a drawn-in infield nets the Dodgers an early 1-0 lead. Dodgers are starting RH Bobby Miller making his ML debut as most of their staff is IL'd at the present moment. Also on tap is a suddenly interesting series between the Yanx & O's in da Bronx I mean, yeah, they're 3rd & 4th place teams right now but that's in the everybody >.500 AL East and the O's might actually have a contending team this year. Plus they netted two 1st inning runs off of Gerrrritttt Cole for an early lead.
  10. Shirley Povich from D.C. Later exposed as a man.
  11. This continues our domination of the Guardians. We've never lost to them!!

  15. Not so sure I'd be pinch running here. We might miss F.A.'s bat later on.
  16. Bad play by Squirrel, worse one by ESPN How typical of them to miss an ongoing play because they're too anxious to get to the reaction shot (of Alonso in this case).
  17. Split screen #2 Currently my 42" screen has the picture of the game that I once had from my 13" portable I had as a teenager. What's next, a return to black and white?
  18. But they have to split the screen because if we can't see him we'd be unable to hear what he's saying ... or something like that.
  19. =metirish post_id=126187 time=1684705498 user_id=72] I enjoy Cone doing Mets games , just not the rest of the ESPN crew.
  20. Mets fell short of getting thrown out for a cycle [1-3, 9-3-2, 9-6] and, as with most missed hitting cycles, this one too failed at 3B And even without those miscues, NYM bats got the bare minimum runs out of the offense they generated. Fortunately, it was justbarely enough.
  21. The Yanx bit the bullet and DFA'd OF Aaron Hicks today, ending their association with their longest tenured position player. Hicks was a former 1st round draft pick of the Twins (14th overall, 2008) but, after failing to live up to the billing, was picked up by the Yanx in 2016 where he seemed to finally "find it" and was declared a MFY success story. A long term deal followed but the success didn't last and so now he's been cut loose with three years and $30-some million remaining on that deal. Talking heads, and more than a few NYM fans, will tell you that the Yanx eat contracts all the time except that they actually don't so this is an exception for them.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: I'm just disturbed that Damon and his top-shelf Q-rating are being deployed for corporate propaganda disguised as commercial films. On top of Ford vs. Ferrari, that's a pattern. Not sure that I see Ford v Ferrari as a corporate propaganda film. Ferrari is going broke as the film progresses (though they fudged the timeline a bit to make it fit the story) and Ford culture certainly doesn't come off very well as it's the two independent mavericks, the driver and the designer, who are the heroes of the film butting heads with the bulk of Ford execs along the way. 'Air' certainly seems a little more problematic. I have to say 'seems' since I've not seen it but upon first hearing of the movie my initial reaction was, 'Oh great, not only does this country have an odd penchant for worshiping gym sneakers to an unhealthy degree but now we're taking to celebrating the more than a bit sleazy folks who brought us the holy grail of status sneakers.' I see your concern but without buying the idea that it's part of a pattern due to the two films sharing a single actor.
  23. btw, best NYM win over the Guardians Ever!
  24. Meanwhile, pretty good week going on here eh?
  25. That's nice and all ... but let's not go down 5-0 tomorrow, mmm-Kay?
