  1. Well this is better news than I expected before I opened this thread. I was afraid it was a story about one of the guys cutting off a finger, maybe with the official Bobby-O brand weed whacker.
  2. Got away, dealt away, snuck away under cover of darkness, FA'd themselves away, whatever. Coming up on two months and nearly 1/3 of the season in the books is maybe a good time to see how these recently departed are doing in other unis. (these stats are several days old) JdG (TEX): In what many would call totally predictable and in a predictable way, deGrom has been very successful while also being very limited: 6 starts, 30.1 IP, 19 H, 4 BB, 45 K. The 11 RA (9 ER) falls into the not predictable realm but 5 of those came in his first, and abbreviated, start so that would get diluted out by a larger sample size … if only there were a larger sample size. Chris Bassitt (TOR): 10 starts, 62.1 IP, 3.01 ERA, 1.04 WHiP lead to a 5-3 record for the Jays and all those numbers were a lot better until getting beat up by Tampa in his most recent start on 5/22 So a very nice season so far for a guy who had a very nice season last year. Seth Lugo (SDP): 8 starts (and Zero relief appearances) 41.2 IP, 4.10 ERA, 1.37 WHIP; 3-3 So the guy who always wanted to start but wasn't allowed by the Mets both for fear of his partially torn UCL and his success in an important bullpen role, found a team who would give him that chance and he's done, well OK … except that he's just been placed on the 15-day IL although with a right calf strain (while rushing to cover 1B) which, as far as I know anyway, isn't connected with his elbow ligament. Taijuan Walker (PHI): 10 Starts but with a 5.79 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. H/9, BB/9 and HR/9 are all up compared to last season. Home park related possibly? James McCann (BAL): A backup to a young star who doesn't sit very often, so only 64 PA to date and an unsightly .177/.203/.306 slash line (11 for 62) Dom Smith (WAS): A respectable .267 BA but only four of his 43 hits are for XBs (3 2Bs + 1 HR) So a 91 OPS+ that's just not going to cut it as a 1B-man JD Davis (SFG): .287/.360/.497 // 796 while playing mostly full time. Michael Conforto (SFG): Just a .213 BA but is walking (.321 OBA) and hitting for power (9 HRs + 2 2Bs in 30 hits) and is playing full time after more than a year on the shelf. Jarred Kelenic (SEA): Not exactly a recent departure, but he's playing everyday now and having his first stretch of success at the ML level: .297/.350/.564 // 914 (154 OPS+) 23 of his 49 hits are XB
  3. An 11 pitch inning for Barnhart Senga had at least a half dozen batters in Wednesday's game whose ABs went at least 11 pitches.
  4. 8-5 Braves is the final. TdA was the 8th inning hero. Orioles beat yanx 3-1 to take that series 2 games to one

  6. Who legs out triples up 8 runs in the 8th? Brandon F. Nimmo, that's who!
  7. 5 - 5 as they start the 8th in Atlanta. This is the first of four between Philly and 'lanta, culminating with the Sunday night game.
  8. So much for this wind the last two nights putting a cap on HRs. What's that, six or seven combined over the last 15+ innings?
  9. We've done a lot of GIDP'ing lately it seems.
  10. Looks great for 104!
  11. Multiple two out RBI hits ... what a concept!!
  12. The strangest time zone line has got to be that strip in lower part of Michigan's upper peninsula which defiantly mocks the rest of their state by casting their lot with the Centralites. Maybe our Michigander knows the story behind that but I sure can't figure out the logic and there can't be many people living there anyway. Not quite what that/those county(ies) in western Kansas are thinking either.
  13. A pitching performance that at least doesn't suck would be nice to see tonight. Especially since, once again, the bats turn a situation loaded with potential runs into ceding an out in order to score a lone run.
  14. When Narvaez returns is the more likely chance but that'll be several weeks at least and who knows how the cards will read by then.
  15. And minutes after our game ends, the Braves win on a walk off Sac Fly
  16. Speaking of not cashing in your runners, the Dodgers are out-hitting the Braves 11 to 4 tonight, but it's tied 3-3 as they start the 9th inning.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: I approve, Marte. Like Gary said, you have to make it if you're going there. But with the combo of Stroman and Vogelbach producing a 98.6% odds of a GIDP, it was a worthwhile gamble.
  18. Pitches thru 5 innings Senga -106 Stroman - 49
  19. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Senga getting out of his own jams is nicer Yeah, but that's gotta be it for him tonight.
  20. I don't remember it. What I recall in more or less chronological order: - Keith's utter indifference to his new knighthood: 'Ummm, yeah, it's a great honor ... I guess' - followed by the team realizing it had a pr issue on its hands with respect to their other everyday veteran - so they 'solved' the problem by naming Carter a captain too which had the effect of not really having a captain which, as far as I'm concerned, is fine since a baseball captain is essentially a meaningless title anyway. Now, did Carter work behind the scenes after they named Keith? Quite possibly, it wouldn't surprise me at all. But I don't recall anything ugly or public going on and I think it was mostly just assumed that Carter lobbied for recognition.
  21. Looks like Stroman spent a good chunk of his FA dollars on neck tats.
  22. Lots o' pitches thrown by Senga thus far. Very few by Stroman.
  23. =metirish post_id=126479 time=1684961684 user_id=72] Yeah, I need to start thread of awful Twitter takes
  24. James is obviously having some fun here responding to MFY fans upset that he won't vouch for Munson's greatness or sanction their demands for immediate inclusion into the HoF. And what other fanbase so regularly cites being 'The Captain' as if that's an 'accomplishment' which represents something worthy of consideration when evaluating a season or career?
  25. When you fail to score as the road team during the clown car rules era you're almost always in deep trouble as the Orioles showed tonight, losing in the bottom half on a ground out then a guy out. Fuck you Rob Manfred
