  1. Pop to Alvarez: fourth play not made tonight or fifth?
  2. 8 hits over 3-2/3 for Megill Sure, a couple of the runs were unearned and several were soft IF hits, but there were a bunch if loud outs as well so it's not like he was snake bit.
  3. =ashie62 post_id=128285 time=1686356482 user_id=90] To the pen in the fourth
  4. Edgy MD wrote: That squeeze bunt was the right play. I'd like to see more of that from the Mets. We'd have to get a runner as far as 3rd first so ... unlikely.
  5. It's like they think of new ways to compound their fuckups! Not just a bobble but one that would have meant two outs and the end of the inning. So that's followed by a 2 run hit on an 0-2 count. And then a walk, and then another error, and then another hit. Three plays on the infield could have produced four outs instead turned none.
  6. What it also means is that the following day, Jose turns 40
  7. Among the other post-mortem items from the Braves series is that Atlanta, who start the same lineup every night, hit 7 HRs over the three games from six different lineup slots including the catcher slot twice (Murphy and d'Arnaud). Eddie Rosario along with, oddly, Acuna and Olson, failed to tally. Worse yet is that 6 of the 8 came in the 5th inning or later with Robertson, Ottavino, and Drew Smith each contributing to the carnage. So they got HRs from the #3, 4 (x2), 5, 6, 8, and 9 spots 6, 8, and 9 were game winners
  8. Well tomorrow actually (6/10) but I'm thinking of it now and will be out of touch much of Saturday. I'm not going to make this a quiz, but will let the knowledgeable fill in the remainder of the NYM-themed sentence.
  9. I never for one moment believed they would win this game. It was merely a matter iof how, not if.
  10. Don't bring him back for the 4th, Buck.
  11. Only a partially encouraging inning for JV
  12. Twould be real nice if Verlander can hold the line drive pct down below 90% here in the 2nd. If not then Buck needs a quick hook

  14. =kcmets post_id=128083 time=1686265241 user_id=53] High Heat is not a terrible show. Most days.
  15. I'm more worried about which type of embarrassment is going to visit us tonight. Another late lead blown by six consecutive doubles or whatever. Or is this going to be one of those 6-0 in the 2nd and over early.
  16. The Reds are throwing him into deep end, hitting him 4th from the git-go.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Is it a clause in a contract somewhere that all NYM baserunners are required to be followed by an infield grounder? Apparently, yes. Yes there is.
  18. All Atlanta runs w/2 outs.
  19. 4-1 lead in the 5th ... no way we blow this lead! oh wait
  20. Geeebus! FIVE infield hits in <4 innings!!!!!
  21. Bad news: only 2 hits Good news (aside from the whole winning 2-0 thing) 88 pitches thru 4 for Morton, essentially six innings worth.
  22. I'm on the radio feed tonight, and I'm starting to get the idea that they want me to buy 'Bird Dog' brand shorts.
  23. Is it a clause in a contract somewhere that all NYM baserunners are required to be followed by an infield grounder?
  24. Koufax retired young (30) not due to the effects of surgery but due to the lack of available surgical options. And, yes, he did talk about retiring so as to not risk damaging his already damaged left wing any further. By that point he had been slathering his arm with hot stuff for years so it's s possible that the doctor on the top of his rolodex (ask your parents, kids) after his career ended was his dermatologist.
