  1. So sucking at pitching, hitting, and defense apparently isn't enough. We're now oh-for-two tonight in tagging runners who were beat by the throw.
  2. Another call overturned by 'definitive' evidence that was anything but definitive.
  3. Eight of our first 21 ABs, nearly 40%, have come with runners on 1st & 2nd ... and all eight have been completely fruitless.

  5. It's not just that they're losing to one of the worst clubs of the last decade, it's that they're being embarrassed in the process.
  6. =G-Fafif post_id=133865 time=1691022661 user_id=55] On August 2, 2023, Danny Mendick has become the 83rd 3B-OF/OF-3B in Mets history.
  7. Knew we were screwed ss soon as they got the first two batters on. Just like the 1st inning. So oh-fer-6 w/RISP thru 3 innings with one ball (lazy ass FO) leaving the IF Royals, meanwhile, just hit their 8th line drive of the game.
  8. Well, at least one side here knows how to get the ball out of the infield.
  9. Good news: Senga limited the damage Bad News: he reached his pitch limit
  10. Ohtani was today named AL player of the month for July ... and, just to save time, for August as well.
  11. A bit of a late start this week ... but we were busy with other stuff the last few days. -- Brave stumped the Angels this afternoon 12 - 5 Austin Riley and Matt Olson with back-to-back HRs. It's the 13th B-t-B for Atlanta this year and the 6th of the season for the duo of Riley & Olson (in one order or the other). I'm thinking that the Mets have done this as a team, what, maybe twice this year? -- TJ surgery for Liam Hendricks. And this was supposed to be his comeback year and in a lot of ways it certainly was ... but this is rough news.
  12. Five games pitched since his perfect game* and now he's expected to not pitch again this season (according to one version I read). Of course it's also not like he's the only author of a NYY perfect game who enjoyed himself a cocktail or two: Wells, D.; Larsen, D. Not that I'm suggesting there's a cause and effect thing here. * in the seven games sandwiching that PG (two before, five since) he allowed 33 runs on 38 hits across 33 innings. Go figger.
  13. Are all those singers now 'canceled' and/or under arrest for hate crimes?
  14. I looked at today's grid for about 30 seconds and then closed it because I'd get as many by not trying as I would if I stared at it for the next 257 hours trying to think of those two team matches.
  15. I don't know what an Arauz is.

  17. At last check, Megill had an ERA in Syracuse north of 10.00
  18. Bases-loaded, winning run on 3rd, and in comes the guy with 6 walks allowed in 6 innings.
  19. How many E-5's have we had over the last two months? Too many is the short answer. And a lot more than prior to Baty/Vientos is the other.
  20. Oh good, now the game is in the hands of the home team then, if we survive that, the clown car rules. But given multiple opportunities with multiple baserunners instead of getting a solid hit plating multiple runs, we had to rely on a series of bloops, BBs, HBPs, and a Sac Fly just to get the ones we got one at a time cuz we don't do multi-RBI hits.
  21. Good thing the Royals had two mound conferences in a four pitch span or else this pitcher might really be in trouble.
  22. I think Pete has driven in each of the last 20 runs the Mets have scored.
  23. I have no idea why anyone would read these tweets and even less why they'd repeat them ... but that seems to be the way the world works these days and I'm old and out of it.
