  1. The good news is that they're only 4 games out of a WC slot. The bad is that there's not one but multiple teams vying for that last invite so LAA has to be better than ALL of those others down the stretch.
  2. I hope it goes without saying so that this thread pertains to non-NYM deals over the next five days, but one never knows when the conservation of threads committee will rear its ugly head. Anyway, the Angels have talked the talk about keeping Ohtani so now comes the walking the walk part of their program as they've traded their #2 & #3 prospects (a LHP and a C) to the Chisox for RH starter Lucas Giolito and RH reliever Reynaldo Lopez btw, this marks the second time that Giolito & Lopez have been traded with each other as, back in December 2016 when Giolito was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, the two were dealt in tandem from the Nats to Chicago for OF Adam Eaton. So they can once again split the cost of the Uber ride to and from the airport.
  3. Braves blow an early 3-0 Spenser Strider lead in Fenway and lose 5-3, one day after losing 7-1 This all keeps the Mets at 17.5 games out of 1st which is pretty much where they've been over the last month. The problem, of course, was the previous month. Of that 17.5 game deficit, the stretch between June 3rd and 29th is responsible for 13 of those games. It's often said that when you're trying to chase down 1st place it's tough to close a gap of much beyond a game, or maybe game and a half, per week remaining on the sked. What the Braves were building on the Mets during that stretch in June was basically a half-game per day or 3-to-3-1/2 per week. Other than that one stretch it's just a 4.5 G gap (other than that how was the play Mrs Lincoln?)
  4. I guessed Dusty almost immediately.
  5. Vientos was lucky not to get doubled off there.
  6. A fair share of the outs vs Quintana have been harder hit than the NYY hits.
  7. =metirish post_id=132897 time=1690417359 user_id=72] Harvey behind home plate ?
  8. The defensive downgrade from Escobar/Guillorme/McNeal to Baty/Vientos is sizable.
  9. Hey look, SNY has figured out that you can conduct an in-game interview without shrinking the game itself!!! Do you suppose there's any way they could teach ESPN how they do it?
  10. Vientos had a quartet of choices to go with that ball and chose the worst of the four. If a Yanqui fielder slipped on the Shea turf the way McNeal did just there Steinbrenner would be filing protests with the league office.
  11. I'm the other ****
  12. Not being used to a) starting IGTs or starting more than one in a row I almost forgot that today's was on me. Last game of the series vs these fuckers. Would be real nice to get both a 3-1 season series win while also knocking them down one more peg into last place. Two pitchers who signed decent sized FA contracts in the off-season only to then sit out the first 100 or so games are tonight's starters: Jose Quintana & Carlos Rondon
  13. And there was much rejoicing (Yay)
  14. Two long ass ABs by Nimmo & Lindor, plus an 'E' by Master Bader has runners on 1st & 3rd
  15. The Leone didn't sleep tonight.
  16. Make that go away.
  17. Back to Back, and Belly to (large) Belly
  18. It occurs to me that Sly (Stewart) Stone was, prior to his music career, a DJ. Coincidence? ... I don't think so.
  19. I was hoping that Pete's ball would get itself into the corner and, with McNeal running, hopefully score two. It simply never came down.
  20. Those these are those two-out RBI things I've been hearing about from other clubs?
  21. Mets tried hard to strand that leadoff double in the 1st but justbarely failed to do so.
  22. My main question, after seeing some of the clips from over the weekend, is that when did Rolen, ten years younger than McGriff, become ten years older than McGriff?
  23. Phils get two on in bottom 9th but fail to score. O's win!
  24. A limited Monday schedule but with two good series start tonight - Orioles @ Philly (3-2 Baltimore in the 9th) - and the leaders of the NLC go at it in Milwaukee, Reds currently leading 2-1 in the 4th In his first two ABs Elly de la Cruz was robbed of a homer and then hit a homer
  25. So it's a two game series with these fuckers in their place as we attempt to both salvage our season and hope to help cripple theirs. Verlander vs Domingo German German's last five starts were: - 10 runs allowed in 3.1 innings - Perfect game - 3 runs in 4.1 - 2 runs in 6 - 5 runs in 6 ... so make of that what you will Of course our entire lineup is hitting under .100 for the month of July so it probably doesn't matter.
