  1. Now 2-0 Dodgers on solo HRs by the Hernandi: Kike and Teoscar Only six hits combined so far. Going to bottom 8
  2. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, but lack of pitching depth traditionally can be papered over in the post-season. Sometimes. They used eight pitchers to toss a shutout in Game 4 and are shutting out the Pads thru 7 tonight. On the other hand, they gave up 5, 10, and 6 in the first three games so that mixing and matching thing works ... except when it doesn't.
  3. As noted in another thread, the time of Saturday's deciding game in Cleveland has been moved up to 1 PM. CY front runner (read: Lock) Tarik Skubal takes the mound for the upstart Tigers. But if he wins that means he may only get one start in the ALCS vs the Yanx which, y'know, will suck. So go [CROSSOUT]In[/CROSSOUT] Guardians!
  4. Kike Hernandez HRs of Darvish in bottom 2 for a 1-0 LAD lead. Yamamoto is on the hill for the Dodgers. IMO the Pads are the better team right now so I'm pulling for LA. Despite the billion or so dollars they spent for various superstars, the Dodgers still wound up with half a lineup and half a rotation.
  5. Remember that nobody's perfect, not even a perfect stranger.
  6. And there's a decent chance you'll get one or two more. NL games four and five will coincide will AL games #3 & 4 so one or the other will get an earlier slot. After that It depends on how long both series go since as soon as one series ends the remainder in the other will shift to all night games.
  7. It's possible we do get that one - two but with Senga as an 'opener' for two innings or so in one of them. That way when Severino, say, is hopefully finishing up his strong six the game would already be in the 8th before you have to tap into the regular part of the pen. But however it plays out, I agree that those two should be the main attraction.
  8. Back to the Lindor HR clip for a moment: I view his rather low key HR trot (let's face it, VERY low key in this era) to be spot on perfect in that situation. It's a YUGE moment in a yuge game but there's also lots of ball to go and it's a three run lead, not six or eight. Whether intentional or not (I'm voting intentional) it sends a message to the team not to lose focus or forget what's at stake. 'Do your jobs' ... and if we all do them well we can cut loose later on, but not yet. Not that over the top acts like Winker's from last week aren't fun to see. But he's a part-timer and likely a temporary mercenary. Lindor's role is different and it's more important and he knows that. I thought he played it perfectly.
  9. So, local time, that's a 5:15 start for game 1 followed by 1:08 the next day. I could go on about the idiocy of putting the weekend game on at night and the weekday game in early afternoon but common sense went out with wool uniforms and the Twi-Night DH Essentially what they're doing with Game 1 is making sure that all the afternoon football games are over so they're competing with just one game for eyeballs instead of the last quarters of three of four at a time. That's why it's 8:15 and not 7:00
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: "Semifinals?" Well, technically it is. Might be one if those British ex-pat fans (his name is Basil after all) who's new to baseball and hasn't quite got all the terminology down yet.
  11. I suspect that the contracts for the two networks guarantee each a set number of prime time games. So it's probably just as simple as the day the NL plays Game #2 falling on TBS's turn to get the money slot. Now that Turner & Fox are down to one series each rather than two, they can't just arbitrarily swap times.
  12. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=175252 time=1728583014 user_id=68] Do these know-it-alls ever run the tape back to show us how fucking wrong they always are?
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Also, work the problem. Don't make things worse by guessing. Thank you, Mr. Krantz
  14. I'm still going to yell at the TV screen.
  15. From June 11th on they were 11.5 games better than Philly, and that doesn't even include the recent four contests. So you can describe this series a lot of different ways, but 'fluke' can't be one of them.
  16. 5 - 0 Dodgers, top 4
  17. Yanx win 3-2 Giancarlo had a 1B, 2B, HR, two RBIs, and, shockingly, a SB
  18. Well Mookie Betts HR'd as the second batter of the game so they're off to a good start.
  19. Yeah, they always had good home unis. Couldn't push any more runs in there, so it goes to the 6th tied. Not sure I could stand that much happiness in one night if the Yanx go down here ... but I'm willing to take the risk.
  20. Down 2-0 in the 5th, Royals get a two out single followed by a double then a triple to tie it up. Clarke Schmidt out as the yanx go to their pen.
  21. The FOX p-b-p guy called it 'The biggest HR of the Mets season' And I'm thinking, dude, you've missed a few games here. We've yet to decide whether this cracks the top five just from the last two weeks.
  22. And now you need a DP to not see Schwarber.
  23. Neither am I nut I didn't think it was going to happen any other way.
  24. More faith in Peterson right now than Diaz. I'd at least start the 9th inning with him. Realmuto - Stott - Wilson - Marsh [R - L - R - L] due up. They might PH for either lefty if Peterson still in but I'll take that swap.
