  1. Anybody want to start a Vet's HoF thread has my permission.
  2. Kinda like that.
  3. Need a nice settle-down inning here from Pelfrey. Be nice if he could go this inning and at least one more.
  4. Gary brought up Pinson. I believe he called him "intriguing" without neccessarily saying he belonged.
  5. Well Boston's doing their part, up 3-0 in the 7th against Toronto. btw, if anyone gets tired of watching the Mets game, or the golf, or the football, or the REdSox game (TBS) - you can always switch over to ESPN which is in the midst of what I think is a 75 hour pre-game show leading into tonight's game featuring the history of Yanqui Stadium (both I and II)
  6. What's with Spanish guys named Vladimir? -- Nunez, Guerrero I wonder to balance things out if there are a bunch of Russians named Jose?
  7. Wright sez: Slump THIS! Gary's not slumping in his quips today. He mentioned the Atlanta pitcher being sub-Parr today and that Delgado's hit #2001 means that his 'Odyssey' continues
  8. I can't believe Castillo took either of those pitches!! (ball 3 or ball 4)
  9. McClung vs Arroyo in Cincy (1:15) Fat Prince hit a solo in the 2nd and it's 1-0 Brewers Moyer vs Volstad in Miami (4:10)
  10. That's three post-seasons in a row for Cliffy 2006 Mets 2007 Cubs 2008 Rays
  11. That he knocked in all our runs.
  12. [u:ccf65f8078]Game 155; Sunday , Sept 23 - Mets @ Marlins[/u:ccf65f8078] Mets 7 - Marlins 6 OMaine (5 IP, 3R, 6H) vs C. Seddon (who?) (5 IP, 2R, 3H): A 4-hour roller-coaster that results in our 3rd straight win and shirley a sign that the worst is behind us and that we were bound to hang on afterall. - Jeremy Hermida's 2RBI single puts the Marlins up in the 3rd. - LoDuca's 2R HR answers in the 4th - Things remain calm until bottom 6 when Maine allows the first two runners to reach and is pulled for Feliciano hwo promptly allows both to score. Sosa finishes the inning unscathed. - Trailing 3-2 in the 8th, the Mets explode for 4 on an Alou single and a Delgado 3R HR - So, armed with a 3 run lead what does Heilman do? Why he starts the inning Walk - Walk - Double of course and the 8th inning ends with a 1-run lead - In comes Wagner for the 9th and out goes Dan Uggla's leadoff HR and the game is tied. - After a scoreless 10th (Joe Smith) a Reyes walk followed by Castillo & Wright singles puts the Mets back on top. And then a 1-2-3 11th from Schoeneweis gets him his second consecutive save. And the Phillies actually lose!!!. 5-3 Nationals Lead jumps to 2-1/2; Magic number drops to 6 And suddenly we only need 5 of the remaining 13 games to go our way (N-HOP = 38.5%) to secure the division.
  13. Martinez - 4.0 Beltran - 0.5 Wright - 0.8 Castillo - 0.5 Schoenweis - 0.8 Parnell - 0.4
  14. There's going to be some kind of 'Farewell to Shea' booklet as an insert in tomorrow's Sunday Daily News. This (these) articles may be from that.
  15. [u:f1a98cf65d]Game 154; Saturday , Sept 22 - Mets @ Marlins[/u:f1a98cf65d] Mets 7 - Marlins 2 Ollie Perez (8 IP, 2 R, 6H) vs BK Kim (5 IP, 5 R, 3 H): Hey, this September baseball stuff is easy. Get good starting pitching, score early and often, quick and easy innings from the pen. What, us worry? - Reyes doubles to lead off the game, gets bunted to 3rd, comes in on Wright's single, he then steals 2nd and comes in on an infield error. - Castro's 3R HR in the 4th makes it 5-Zip - The Fish get on the board in the bottom of the inning with a double and a pair of Sac Flies. - Mets tack on single runs in the 6th and 8th and it's a 7-1 game. - Ollie's gives up one in his last inning of the day before Heilman tosses a 1-hit 9th to close it out.. Meanwhile in DC, the Phils score 3 in the top of the 10th to beat the Nats 4-1 Lead stays at 1-1/2; Magic number drops to 8 N-HOP Pct adjusts itself slightly from 47.1% to 46.7% as we need 7 of the remaining 15 possibilities to go our way.
  16. Tampa thumps Twins BoSox beat Toronto ChiSox win So the AL East race stays the same -- 1-1/2 game lead for Rays Chicago's lead in the Central jumps to 2-1/2 The Rays-Twins game featured the first ever replay over-rule. Rays 1B Carlos Pena had a double turned into a HR when the review showed his hit had bounced off a fan and back onto the field
  17. Perez - 2.2 Reyes - 2.3 Heilman - 0.2 Stokes - 0.5 Murphy - 1.0 Beltran - 0.8 Wright - 1.0 Delgado - 1.0 Evans - 1.0
  18. Dodgers with a playoff spot almost sewn up despite currently having the [u:02bfa1bece]8th best record[/u:02bfa1bece] in the NL. That kind of incompetance hasn't been seen since the 2000 Yanquis.
  19. The Marlins have almost quitely won 9 straight and the fact that they had/have their end of the year games against the Astros, Phillies and (gulp) Mets means that they have the ability to control their own fate to a certain extent. They're currently 5 games off our division lead and 4.5 out of the WC (tied w/Houston - 2.5 behind Milwaukee) That said, they're still our bestest buddies for the next two days.
  20. That Geovanny Soto HR might have been the death blow the Brewers won't recover from. Not only was it obviously a devastating loss, but merely by sending the game into extra innings it forced Sveum to bring in the scheduled next day's starter Seth McClung for 2 innings, which in turn screwed up the rotation. Last night Jeff Suppan was started on short rest and coughed up 5 runs before he got the first out. Today Sabathia will start on short rest as will others down the line and who knows when or even if Sheets will pitch again.
  21. Sheffield gets plunked by seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians"' Fausto Carmona and clearly wasn't happy about it. He then get even more pissed off when Carmona tried a pickoff once he was on 1st ... so he charged the mound from the basepaths. Pinhead!
  22. Relievers have actually been OK tonight - just a bit unlucky. True it's taken 5 of them to get through 2 innings, but whatever gets you through the night.
  23. Brewers lose!! 2/3 of the way to a late-2008 version of Triple Happiness!
  24. Two of the E-boys have made up for their miscues.
  25. Bring on the dancing bears!!
