  1. 7th inning was the line-out DP inning actually, but I get your point.
  2. Ramon Martinez has been a great player ever since he's been a Met.
  3. 7th inning: 1st & 3rd, 1 out = 0 runs 8th inning: 1st & 3rd, 1 out = 1 run 9th inning: Bases loaded, 1 out = 0 runs Division titles can turn on stuff like that.
  4. They're killing me here.
  5. They're gonna leave it up to Church. Howry's a low-walk/higher-hit kind of guy. It makes more sense to walk the bags loaded for him than it did for Samardzija.

  7. That took a pair of brass ones to take third on that!!!
  8. 3-way tie getting more probable by the minute.

Anything about this on SNY? No. I also don't put a lot of stock into what Surcliffe says.
  10. Samardzija had 13 BBs in 26 IPs coming in to this game. The IW to Endy was sorta asking for it.
  11. You HAVE TO stay out of the DP now. Beltan has to run and do so soon.
  12. Not sure that Delgado scoring was as cut-n-dried as Gary is making it out to be but ...

  14. Should have started HIM at 2nd base tonight.
  15. Brewers tie it at 1. Either way we'll know where we stand because both of these out of town games are going to be over long before ours.
  16. "Is Maine available tonight?" He's eligible to be used. Not sure if they'll do so.
  17. Don't tell him about us, he might sue.
  18. Tonight it's Jo-Jo Reyes for the Braves (I know I said that last night too) vs Brett Myers - loser of 2 of his last 3 In Milwaukee it's Paul Maholm vs Sabathia - who is starting on short rest for the 2nd straight time and suddenly hasn't won in 5 starts
  19. Ollie Perez vs Carlos Zambrano Zambrano's last 7 starts have been all over the map. Among them: - 2 losses where he was blown out early, including his last one where the Cards knocked him around for 8 runs on 6 hits + 3 BBs in 1-1/3 IP - 3 NDs where he was not good at all: 3 runs over 5 IP; 6 runs over 4.1; 5 runs over 6 - 1 good start that he won: 1 run thru 7 vs Cincy - oh yeah, plus a 10-K no-hitter against the Astros We lost to him in April: 1 run thru 7 IP on 5 hits
  20. There are so many electronic ways for gamblers ... I mean fans to get their sports fix these days that I can't believe there would still be a staff of living, breathing people giving out scores and such like Sports Phone once did. Howie Rose was one of a bunch of current day media types who got his start being one of the Sports Phone voices.
  21. [u:c3775ed984]Game 158; Wednesday , Sept 26 - Nationals @ Mets[/u:c3775ed984] Nats 9 - Mets 6 Humber (4 IP, 5 R, 6 H) vs Mike Bacsik (2.1 IP, 5R, 7H) You can look at the final game of the season or any one game in between as the main culprit. But getting swept by the Nationals was the low point. - Mets jump out to a 5-0 lead on 3 HRs (Beltran, Alou & Beltran) as the risk of starting Humber is looking good through 3. - Then some guy named Church hit a 2R HR in the 4th (5-2) - And then the 5th starts with a walk and two hits and Humber is replaced by Smith (6-3 Mets) ... two consecutive hits later and Feliciano comes in to a 6-5 lead ... and a 2R double later it's 7-6 Nats - From that point on 5 Nationals pitchers pitch the final 5 innings facing one batter over the minimum. And, for good measure, Ryan Church doubles in 2 more in the 9th and the Nationals complete the sweep. In Philadelphia, Kyle Lohse out-pitches Tim Hudson and the Phils win 5-2 Lead drops to 1 game for the first time since mid-May; Magic number stays at 4 N-HOP goes to (50%) 4 of 8.
  22. This must be at least the 10th time this season where the general consensus has been that THIS is a must game and THIS is the reason we got Johan ... and he's come through each time.
  23. All the rainbows in the sky Start to weep, then say goodbye You won't be seeing rainbows any more Setting suns before they fall, Echo to you that's all that's all But you'll see lonely sunsets after all It's over It's over It's over It's OOOOOOOOOO-ver -- Roy Orbison
  24. Hagin = MUCH better at non-HR calls than at HRs Unfortunately for him the sound-bite culture is going to judge him more for his lack of signature HR call than for the nuts and bolts of the rest of the game. And his HR calls sound forced and basically suck.
  25. Both ESPN.com's Buster Olney and SI.com/WFAN's Jon Heyman have been saying this since sometime yesterday and I highly doubt either of them is relying on a blogger as their sole source.
