Y'know what's good on that one is that the UN building actually looks like the UN Building. I think part of the reason I was having trouble getting all bent out of shape over the change is that I had no idea it was supposed to be the UN in the first place as, edge-on like it is on the logo, it just looks like any other square-ish structure.

He's an anchor that pulls that team dooooown. Psychologically speaking, of course. He's always been like that. Or at least has always had bouts of being like that. The only difference now is that he's doing it AND hitting like shit at the same time.
5 runs & 5 hits, but only one of those runs was scored via a hit -- Tejada's HR obviously. Other than that, two came in via Sac Flys, one on an RBI groundout, and one a Wild Pitch Beats the hell out of all those games with lots of hits but also lots of runners stranded.

The Braves are 4-13 in September, and any combination of Pittsburgh victories and Atlanta losses equaling two eliminates the Braves from the wild-card race. 2-10 over their last 12 games, and have managed to score in just 13 of the 108 innings over that time (24 runs total) while putting up 'a bagel' in the other 95. So far in this series they've scored in just 1 of the 18 innings in which they've batted (scoring twice in Saturday night's 8th inning). Talk about your 'Noffense'
Wright - Gone Eveland - Gone Black - Gone Herrera - Gone Lagares - Gone (at least until the final home stand) Kind of odd to lose that many players just in September. I think we're the only team with a thinner bullpen in September than in the five months leading up to it.
Brewers win it 1-0 via a run in the 9th. StL whipped up on the Reds again and are pretty much sailing to the NLC title (after I wrote them off like two months ago) as they gain no matter what happens in the Pit/Mil series. Dodgers lost in the late innings this afternoon but the Giants are in the process of losing to SD so they've got no one to blame but themselves.
Over the last two seasons the Yanx have given up 55 more runs than they've scored and yet are 12 games over .500 during that time. Your friend think there's someone else who can do a better job at turning that chicken shit into chicken salad? I suppose his reply would be that a different skipper would improve the RS/RA numbers but I'd like to see him try with that lineup. Oddly enough, their pitching, where they've had all the injuries this year, has been quite good in the second half. Again, it's the hitting stupid* oe: 3rd from the bottom of AL in runs scored, 0.03 R/G out of last place!!! Ahead of only TBR and, of all teams, Boston.
Yanx lose this afternoon, but so does every frictkin' team in front of them so, while they continue to lose time, they're not losing ground. - Oakland got shut out by the Phils - Seattle got swamped by the 'Stros - KC lost again to the Tigers (in part because of a screwed up replay ruling) so Detroit's lead is now 2.5 after two straight wins - only Cleveland, who was tied w/the Yanx coming into today, won and so they move a game ahead. It's like nobody wants those last two spots. OAK +0.5 KCR --- SEA -0.5 CLE -3.5 MFY -4.5 TOR -5.5
Milwaukee's Matt Garza gets tossed in the 5th inning of a scoreless game for hitting Andrew McCutcheon twice. Neither seemed intentional but there were warnings issued after the first time and I think there's some recent history here. Brews need every game they can get so this isn't going to help.

Mets were mathematically eliminated despite the win on Friday night, so it only seems fair to beat the Braves again today and possibly eliminate them. Can pass Miami with a win and get to within 1-1/2 game of the Braves. Plus there's that who 'Run the table to get to 82 wins' thing still going for us. I think last night was my first IGT win of the year. Lineups to follow ... or not.
Edgy MD wrote: Not bad. Unfortunately for him, it's probably more true that it's Eight Plus Gosselin. Mets totally could be the best team in this division. Just ran out of time or something. Give us, you know, a 200-game season, and we'd be right up there. Yeah, with a longer season we could go 3-24 against the Nats.

Gotta run the table in order to finish above .500 and they can't do that without a win tonight. Wheeler vs Teheran As always with Braves games on a Friday, it's a 7:35 start
Considering how much Jetes hates all this publicity and fuss surrounding his farewell tour (I know he does cuz Michael Kay et al keep telling me so) it was really low of Gatorade to stalk him with those cameras like that (do you suppose he saw them?) and at the same time very fortunate for them that Derek just happened to keep walking past their logos at every turn.
