I have no opinion of Sterling K. Brown but I'm sick of Sterling K. Brown.

Oh joy, they have 2 MFYs mic'd up.

Let's sweep 4 games in Chicago like it was the 2015 NLCS and go into the break smiling. David Peterson against Adrian Sampson (RHP) at 2:20 PM ET. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-cubs/2022/07/17/661082#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=661082https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-cubs/2022/07/17/661082#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=661082

Please tell me why Diaz couldn't pitch again? I heart Buck but this game counts and if it didn't rain yesterday Lopez wouldn't be playing. UPDATE: Buck knows what he's doing.

David Ross is a whiny little bitch. Even Mattingly wants him to shuddup.

Barry Svurluga in The Washington Post has written that 3 groups are interested in buying WSH but all want Soto's future, one way or another, to be decided before the deal is made. As a result, Rizzo, on behalf of the Lerners, has some motivation to get a deal done. The Mets would have to take Corbin, too.

The 2022 Active Roster (and eventual transactions)
bmfc1 replied to G-Fafif's topic in New York Mets Talk
=G-Fafif post_id=99966 time=1657987648 user_id=55] Yoan Lopez is your 27th man for both games. -
What would a package of Trout and Ohtani be worth?
bmfc1 replied to roger_that's topic in New York Mets Talk
Mauricio/Baty or Vientos/Peterson/Megill to start for either. WSH would want the other team to take Corbin off their hands. -
=Gwreck post_id=99944 time=1657970319 user_id=56] =bmfc1 post_id=99908 time=1657924295 user_id=73] I wonder if we'll see Chris Bassitt out of the bullpen this weekend. He last pitched on Wednesday and won't pitch until next weekend.

If the MLB Players' had a detail-oriented union it would try to stop split doubleheaders if only to show affinity w/the fans (and to prevent players from sitting around for 3 hours in a cramped, outdated, clubhouse) but no one cares what the fans think. The Mets have split doubleheaders scheduled on August 6 and 20.

In Game 1, Taijuan Walker faces Marcus Stroman (and please don't call him "old friend"). Stroman is making his second start since coming off the IL. On July 9, he started and went 4 innings, 0 ER, against the LAD. For the year, he is 2-5 with a 4.91 ERA. Walker is 7-2, with a 2.63 ERA. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-cubhttps://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-cub ... ame=661115

I made sure that I didn't say it!

It's a 2:20 start for Game 1 of 2 and I WILL PUNCH IN THE FACE THE FIRST PERSON WHO SAYS "as Ernie Banks said...." because we know it. Everyone knows it. Ernie was great but it's such a cliche. Gary, you're better than that. Don't do it during the opening of the broadcast. While you're enjoying the game, I will be at Dulles International Airport picking up family that is returning from Italy. During the ride back, I will have to feign interest in the trip while the game is on the radio. Perhaps they can limit their comments to the commercial breaks.

=kcmets post_id=99779 time=1657846954 user_id=53] Thought we were done with this nonsense for the rest of the year.

It's baseball as it should be at Wrigley: a day game starting at 2:20 PM ET. Taijuan Walker faces Marcus Stroman (and please don't call him "old friend"). Benjamin Grimm wrote: It would have even more of an impact if the Blue Jays were considered to be a potential postseason opponent. They are currently in a playoff spot so it's still possible. I don't know how any team can consider one of these players in a trade, including the Mets and Benintendi. Maybe the Mets won't play the Blue Jays in the WS but this says a lot about how these players view themselves as opposed to being a member of a team. As Andy McCullough wrote in The Athletic: [bLOCKQUOTE]Getting vaccinated does not make you a better ballplayer. But it does demonstrate a commitment to a shared purpose, the sort of step that teams with championship aspirations ask players to take. At a time when clubs circle trips to Toronto with trepidation, the Astros and Yankees do not have to worry about that nonsense.[/bLOCKQUOTE] https://theathletic.com/3422046/2022/07/13/canada-vaccines-mlb-royals/https://theathletic.com/3422046/2022/07/13/canada-vaccines-mlb-royals/

It's the Mets in Wrigley at 8:05 ET (followed by three day games). Carlos Carrasco is on the mound for the Mets. Let's hope it's the good Cookie. Keegan (Michael-Key) Thompson (RHP) goes for the Cubs (34-53). I'm not familiar with him but his numbers are good and he's coming off 5 2/3 IP with 0 ER against LAD. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-cubs/2022/07/14/661101#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=661101https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-cubs/2022/07/14/661101#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=661101 https://www.mlb.com/player/keegan-thompson-624522https://www.mlb.com/player/keegan-thompson-624522

If Gary is mystified that Austin Riley (or Lindor or Nimmo or Taijuan) aren't All-Stars, it's because David Bednar and Joe Mantiply are due to that dopey, antiquated "every team" rule.
