  6. And that's a BOC nomination for LWFS.
  7. Edgy DC wrote: I have no problem believing the president's speechwriter carefully avoided explicit praise of any established PED users. I'm not ready to bet the ranch on it, but it's the sort of thing they do. That's not a "snub"--that's ignoring the cheat. Klapisch interpreted it the way a MFY DB would.
  8. Bob Klapisch, for thinking that President Obama "snubbed" Alex Rodriguez because he didn't mention him by name, as he did four others. http://nymag.com/daily/sports/2010/04/did_obama_snub_a-rod.html
  9. Here's the game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN200706250.shtml
  10. Incredible picture--never fails to make me smile (I wouldn't mind if the cameraman was cropped out, but that's another matter). The guy to Jose's immediate left looks familiar. I hope he plays again soon.
  11. Vecsey says he may have been wrong: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/27/sports/baseball/27vecsey.html?src=twr
  12. Ollie Time will have to wait a day: rained out tonight. Single admission DH tomorrow starting at 4. (That means 3 games in 24 hours.)

  14. I coached my son's teams when he played "rec" and the infield fly rules was in effect from 6th grade on. I taught it and only remember having a problem when the umpires (teenagers) either didn't call it ("Ump, what about the infield fly rule?" "Uh, I forgot.") or was so zealous that he would call it on other than routine plays. My older son ump'd in the league and knew the rule but once got grief from a coach for calling it (he calmly explained it to him).
  15. Following up on the original comment, Jerry said this ([u:dz812t53]New York Post[/u:dz812t53], today, Joel Sherman's column): "It's funny I was talking about just that in the coaches' room with the staff today," manager Jerry Manuel said. "Sometimes we focus so much on our team that we forget that just about every team has problems." http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/mets_no_jokers_in_wild_wild_card_5AMLOHUYYA2pqma1q6GRxI#ixzz0mDEtL89p
  16. You're welcome. I didn't see it until tonight.
  17. The Mets have just tweeted that fans tonight can move into better seats: Fans can sit in any open field level seat behind the dugouts extending toward the outfield or any open seat on the Excelsior level.
  18. JCL: Gary said yesterday that yesterday's start (for the speedy Blanco) was because it was a day game after a night game and tonight's start is because of his success w/Pelfrey.
  19. METS: 1. Angel Pagan CF 2. Luis Castillo 2B 3. Jose Reyes 3B 4. Jason Bay LF 5. David Wright 3B 6. Ike Davis 1B 7. Jeff Francoeur RF 8. Henry Blanco C 9. Mike Pelfrey RHP Cox: Cabrera-7 Prado-4 Jones-5 McCann-2 Glaus-3 Heyward-9 Escobar-6 McLouth-8 Hanson-1
  20. MGIM: Mets are also on ESPN this Monday and again next Sunday and on MLB Network on Tuesday.
  21. Good find. Perhaps it goes to Torre's ego--if Manny was around, reporters might ask him questions, his being from The Bronx, but now, he can have the reporters all to himself.
  22. Great win! Two straight series wins.
  23. This series might make Cox retire before the season ends.
