  1. Past 10:30, I'll be drafting Mike Nikeas and Ryota Igarashi. Yes I'm old.
  2. BMFC1 raves: "It's a great documentary--any Mets fan will love it!"
  3. I don't understand your post, Edgy. Perez hasn't earned a bit of credibility with me, and with almost all Mets fans, after refusing to do what was best for the team and go to the minors. Shame on the Mets for not cutting his sorry ass right then but he became a non-entity to me the minute that happened. He's a horrible pitcher, he's not a team player, and the Mets have wasted far too much time and energy on him. I hope that he wins 30 games this year for the Mets, I hope that he become successful in any role, because as long as he's wearing the blue & orange I will root for him but they could cut him right now and I'd be happy. I have no expectations for him other than to continue to suck, to pout, and to take up spring innings that could be taken by someone with a better chance of success in 2011 which is anybody else in camp.

  6. Mike Breen, NBA and Knicks announcer. On tonight's Knicks game, Girardi was in the crowd and Breen said that he wanted equal time for the Mets. Also, the sideline reporter said that Mike was "Mets guy."
  7. How things have changed: Expectations for 2010: that he'll learn to run to the right base and throw to the correct cut-off man. Expectations for 2011: that he'll be the starting RF on opening day, play almost flawless defense, and be an integral part of the Mets offense.
  8. I bought a 36-pack of the new Topps set. Very nice, even though I didn't get any Mets and got 4 MFPs.
  9. "Known or should have known" is going to be tough to prove. The complaints tries to show that the Wilpons and Katz are savvy businessmen but they are experts in real estate and not Wall Street. Maybe it can be proved but I'm guessing that eventually, Piccard realizes that he can't prove anything and the Wilpons/Katz give him a good amount, but far less than sought, to settle.
  10. Damn, I just realized that we won't have any new close-ups of Pettitte's face with his glove over his mouth while he looks at the catcher.

"Gronauer, who hails from Germany, and Nieuwenhuis also were in camp last year and represented the Mets in the Arizona Fall League." Will the Mets have a press conference just for the German media?
  13. How great is this line: "He provides a nice set of capabilities for us," Alderson said.
  14. I hope that Hu becomes a Hall of Famer but until then, I still don't like seeing anybody but Keith wearing #17.
  15. Question: are you happy to learn that any Big Shot is Met-Lovin' or are there some people that you don't like so they might as well be MFY fans?

  17. The July 10 game being at 8 PM means a shorter All Star break (assuming that they're returning to the east coast) for the 15 Mets not named to the All Star Game. For the 10 Mets that will be on the team, plus Terry Collins named as a coach because of the Mets fantastic first half, being in SF means a comparatively shorter flight to the game in Arizona.

Nice work Vic. I would add Justin Turner to the 2B mix and Dusty Ryan to possibly be the backup catcher while Paulino finishes his suspension.
  19. The Indians have a pitcher that played for the Harvard Crimson: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Herrmann The Pirates have a pitcher that played for the Princeton Tigers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ross_Ohlendorf.
  20. I expect there to be much discussion about him when ST opens, then when the games start, he'll get some hits off AA and AAA pitchers which will lead to a discussion of whether he's back, and then Hu or Turner or another 2B candidate will get some hits, which will lead to a discussion of his release, while Heyman and Rubin try to top each other with trade rumors, and then a week or two before ST ends the Mets will release him with Sandy Alderson saying "we wanted to give him a chance to make another team before rosters are set", and I will rejoice, and then I won't care but he'll go elsewhere, get a few hits, badmouth the Mets, and then he'll slump, and bail out on DP throws, and not make any effort to go after grounders hit more than a foot to either side, and he'll be released again.
  21. From the BBWAA: First-year candidates who received sufficient support to remain were Jeff Bagwell with 242 (41.7%), Larry Walker with 118 (20.3%), Rafael Palmeiro with 64 (11%) and Juan Gonzalez with 30 (5.2%). Other holdovers that will remain on the ballot in addition to Larkin and Morris are first basemen Mark McGwire, Fred McGriff and Don Mattingly; outfielders Tim Raines and Dale Murphy; designated hitter-third baseman Edgar Martinez; shortstop Alan Trammell and relief pitcher Lee Smith. In his 15th and final year on the ballot, Dave Parker received 89 votes (15.3%). Me: Fonzie '12!
