SOB Jayson Werth stays in the NL East--Nationals, 7 year deal.

So what did the Mets end up getting for Billy Wagner? The Red Sox got two draft picks, the Braves got an effective Wagner who helped them make the playoffs, while the Mets got one season of Chris Carter, another minor leaguer, and saved some money. They should have eaten the money and kept the draft picks. I'd like to think that Sandy won't do the same thing.

Seo with a great thread title.

This year's Jeff F.

Adam Rubin has pieced together the Mets ST schedule for '11 (since the Mets seem to be shy about releasing it themselves): February 26 Atlanta Braves at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 27 University of Michigan at Port St. Lucie, 12:10 p.m. (split squad) 27 Atlanta Braves at Disney, 1:05 p.m. (split squad) 28 Washington Nationals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. March 1 Washington Nationals at Viera, 1:05 p.m. 2 St. Louis Cardinals at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. 3 St. Louis Cardinals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 4 Florida Marlins at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. 5 Atlanta Braves at Disney, 1:05 p.m. 6 Boston Red Sox at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 7 Detroit Tigers at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 8 Washington Nationals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. (split squad) 8 Houston Astros at Kissimmee, 1:05 p.m. (split squad) 9 Houston Astros at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 10 Florida Marlins at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. (split squad) 10 Washington Nationals at Viera, 1:05 p.m. (split squad) 11 Florida Marlins at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 12 Atlanta Braves at Disney, 1:05 p.m. 13 St. Louis Cardinals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 15 Washington Nationals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 16 Minnesota Twins at Fort Myers, 1:05 p.m. 17 Boston Red Sox at Fort Myers, 1:05 p.m. 18 Atlanta Braves at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 19 Washington Nationals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. (split squad) 19 Atlanta Braves at Disney, 1:05 p.m. (split squad) 20 Florida Marlins at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. 21 Atlanta Braves at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 22 Detroit Tigers at Lakeland, 1:05 p.m. 23 St. Louis Cardinals at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. 24 St. Louis Cardinals at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 25 Florida Marlins at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. 26 Atlanta Braves at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 27 St. Louis Cardinals at Jupiter, 1:05 p.m. 28 Florida Marlins at Port St. Lucie, 1:10 p.m. 29 Washington Nationals at Viera, 12:05 p.m. 30 Florida Marlins at Port St. Lucie, 12:10 p.m.

6'10"--gotta be the tallest, right?

Olney says that the Mets "are closing in on a deal with veteran right-hander Chris Young, who would fit their park perfectly." http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/y/youngch03.shtml (corrected because I sometimes can't tell them apart.)

I agree w/you seawolf17: I don't want him gone, either. My point was that if you are going to do so, something I don't want to see happen, then you certainly don't do it now when he is not at full value.

seawolf17 wrote: First person who trades Reyes gets a serious smack upside the head. I'm talking to you, Sandy Alderson. Even if you want to trade him to improve your minor league depth and plan for '12, you're not going to get full value for Jose coming off another season with injuries. Same with Beltran. Keep them, hope they stay healthy, and if they are and you're not in contention and you don't want to resign them, then move them before the trade deadline.

Chris Mullin. At least he was when growing up in Brooklyn, as per an interview today on ESPN 1050. (The question was "which team did you root for when growing up?" There was no follow-up by Jody McDonald or Brandon Tierney to ask if he still roots for the Mets.)

Terry has radio interviews with MFYs fans later today: Francesa at 1:20 and Kay at 3:20.

BG: excellent!

No questions from The Times, Newsday, News, etc?

"passion"... so far, his favorite word.

Who is applauding? Are fans in attendance?

Terry was hired because he's almost as short as Jeff Wilpon.

Sandy and Terry are going to arm wrestle.

We're off to a great start as the online feed starts w/the show already in progress. Why isn't Jay Horwitz instructing the press? The Mets need a lawyer to do that? Is Jay asleep already?

"I'm chuffed , ignore the negativity from bmfc.....he's a real comedian that fella." No worries. He was my 4th pick out of the Final Four but he hasn't lost a game yet so he's got a clean slate with me. I hope he's the best manager they've ever had. If the Smart Three like him, then I trust their judgement.

Tweets say it's Collins. Welcome Terry! Best of luck! The bar is low after Jerry so you won't have to do a lot to impress us. Based on what we've read, I don't think that you'll try to make jokes after a loss, so already you're ahead of your predecessor. I hope that you don't quit and the players don't quit on you. And that people smarter that me are right in thinking that it's not important that you haven't managed in the majors since '99.

Press conference Tuesday.

"I'm sure Michael Kay will have a fit as well. an absolute fit. I hope he waits until 5." Sorry, the rant began as soon as the show started. He calls it not just a New York-bias but a "Yankee bias" (good call, FK). (Is this the same Yankee bias that awarded Gold Gloves to 3 MFYs?). LaGreca is telling him that he's wrong. Kay: "The Yankees never get the benefit of the doubt."

The question is not who we want but who will get the job... Melvin gets it; I still want Wally.
