  1. Rick Schwartz, movie producer: http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/34545/why-do-movies-suck-ask-a-guy-who-makes-them Rick Schwartz is an independent producer who lives in New York City. His credits include The Others, The Departed and Black Swan. Hed much rather be playing shortstop for the Mets.
  2. That's the new alternative uniform.
  3. I saw somewhere that Nathan may be available at a discount, so it's possible.

Next bench coach said to prefer to have ML managing experience, maybe a guy like Jiggleman would be a good choice for us, given we're looking up at the Nats now. Nice going: NYPost_Mets Mike Puma by AdamRubinESPN Source says Larry Bowa and Jim Riggelman are among the candidates team will consider for bench coach. Both are tight with Collins.
  5. I wonder if Wally Backman gets moved up to AAA. Rubin writes: Sandy Alderson indicated Wally Backman likely replaces Tim Teufel as Buffalo manager.
  6. AdamRubinESPN Adam Rubin Bench coach Ken Oberkfell, bullpen coach Jon Debus, third base coach Chip Hale, first baes coach Mookie Wilson out. Hitting coach Dave Hudgens, pitching coach Dan Warthen remain in roles The New York Mets today announced that Bench Coach Ken Oberkfell, Third Base Coach Chip Hale, First Base Coach Mookie Wilson and Bullpen Coach Jon Debus will not return to the major league club for the 2012 season. Tim Teufel will take over as Third Base Coach and Ricky Bones will become Bullpen Coach. Hitting Coach Dave Hudgens and Pitching Coach Dan Warthen will return to Manager Terry Collins staff in the same positions next year. Hale declined an offer to remain on Collins staff to pursue another Major League coaching opportunity. Wilson and Debus will be offered other positions within the organization. Teufel was the Manager of the Buffalo Bisons (AAA) of the International League for the 2011 season and Bones was Pitching Coach. The Mets will announce further additions to the Major League coaching staff in the coming weeks.
  7. I think Bell, although I read somewhere that his K/9 ratio dropped a lot this year.

  9. SteveJRogers wrote: ... Did the film make at least it a point to differentiate the fact that Buckner at least had a decent enough name for himself in the game prior to Game 6 while Bartman essentially got the wrong kind of Andy Warhol time? ... To that end, was Leon Durham ever brought up? Seems like his through the wickets error in the 1984 NLCS has gotten lost in the narrative of the 1984 Cubs. At least on the national level where Garvey's homer is spotlighted more when talking about that NLCS. Distinguished--slightly (I think just slightly, if at all) in that Buckner is a professional player used to be in the spotlight while Bartman was not. I didn't like even the attempt at the connection because the Bartman story was interesting enough without attempting to make a "big picture" point. Durham--yes, because Buckner was traded from Chicago to Boston so that Durham could play and the narrative pointed out the irony.
  10. Are any of those 7 still rooting for the MFPs? http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/35666/rollins-disses-reyes
  11. I'm surprised that MLB and FOX haven't changed the starting times of tomorrow's NL games to put the MFYs in prime time.
  12. It makes me sad to think that Bartman isn't able to watch his team at Wrigley any more.
  13. Rubin wrote that Nickeas would share time with Thole. Unless Paulino is under contract, I don't see any reason for him to be around any longer.
  14. Congrats MGIM. You can see his real name in the credits under (I think) "Photographs and Stills." It's a good movie that would have been better if it didn't incorporate so much about Buckner and '86. Don't get me wrong: I'm always ready to see replays from '86 but I thought that the point of the movie was Bartman. The Director made it into an examination of scapegoating in baseball and related Buckner to Bartman. I think that the movie would have been better if it started after the first twenty minutes and ended ten minutes earlier.
  15. No Rays. Thanks Met Hunter.
  16. Too bad the Mets can't afford Francona. Maybe he'll sit out a year and the team's finances will improve by then.
  17. Fine either way but CJ Wilson's tweet yesterday about Jose gives the edge to Tampa.
  18. Not that I'm happy for St. Louis, but how does that feel Braves fans?
  19. CJ Wilson--STFU: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/16808/jose-reyes-leaves-game-to-protect-title
  20. I've never met MGIM but I'm guessing that his will be when Acosta threw a ball to his daughter.
  21. Jose Reyes is trending nationwide on Twitter and most are very anti-Jose, including nasty ones from Jim Rome and Greg Zaun. I guess when Braun sat out on Monday when he had the lead, it was OK.
  22. Give us your pick for a great Mets moment from 2011. That's a "moment", a play, an ovation, a moment in time, but not a game or a win ("the Mets score 6 in the 9th to beat a desperate Cardinals team" is not a moment; "Harris drives in the winning runs as part of a 6 run 9th...." is a moment). Only one per person, please. Here's one from me: July 20. Pagan's walk-off HR in the 10th inning against the Cardinals.
  23. Congratulations to TransMonk!
  24. Great job by the starting 2B for '12. We get it Ronnie: you love Chapman (the Reds pitcher, not themetfairy).
