  1. Good win. Solid performance by Niese. Terry pulled the right strings. Now everybody--get to bed, rest up... another big game tomorrow night.

  4. SNY/PIX is acting as if their audience is all of NY. I'm sure that YES is not.
  5. I wish that Guys! would STFU about the glory and splendor of Pettitte.

  9. Charlie Sheen, Derek Jeter and Joe Buck. That's what those of us in the DC area will miss when the Mets again appear on FOX Saturday Night Baseball, this time against the MFYs. Sheen will be stopping by the booth to plug his new FX show. I'm gonna go out a limb that they'll play "Wild Thing" and show a clip from "Major League." Here is the map: http://www.the506.com/mlbmaps/ MLB on FOX 6/23: Pre Game Hosts: Matt Vasgersian, Harold Reynolds and Dan Plesac. 12. I'm gonna channel Warner Wolf and suggest a rule change: when there's two outs and a runner on 1st, if there's a ground-rule double the runner from 1st scores. He's running on the pitch so the team in the field shouldn't benefit because the ball goes over the fence (or the line at Citi Field).
  13. Let's hope that the Orioles regain their hitting eye on Friday night.
  14. Johnson called Maddon a "weird wuss" who has a "Tweeter." Maddon says that players should "think twice" before going to play for the Nationals. The issue between the two was not simply pointing out the use of pine tar, it was doing so with inside knowledge as Peralta used to play for Washington. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/post/davey-johnson-responds-to-joe-maddon-calls-rays-manager-a-weird-wuss/2012/06/20/gJQAKG8ArV_blog.html#pagebreak http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/post/joe-maddon-holds-firm-on-stance-tells-players-to-think-twice-about-coming-to-the-nationals/2012/06/20/gJQA2cR9qV_blog.html
  15. In case you're going to Baltimore on Saturday, the Orioles tumblers will not be ready. Instead, "Birdland" t-shirts will be given out along with a voucher for the tumbler.
  16. How is Guys! doing? I'm watching on MASN.
  17. Nick Johnson is starting at 1st. Didn't he get hurt the last time he started against the Mets (as a National)?

  20. From a real veteran staff on the other side, knowing how this thing works and how its worked for many, many years, you can go back to spitball pitchers to greaseball pitchers to whatever kind of pitchers to scuffball pitchers, this is just how the game has been played for 100 years, more than that, he said. So to single out Joel Peralta tonight, thats my concern. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/post/former-nationals-joel-peralta-ejected-from-rays-nationals-game-before-throwing-a-pitch-for-foreign-substance-on-glove/2012/06/19/gJQArpM8oV_blog.html So is he saying that there is "a code" that allows the use of illegal substances?
  21. Lefty starter for Baltimore so we'll see if Terry plays "opposite day" from the lineup of Tuesday. He's already said that Turner will start at short. Perhaps: Rottino, Murphy, Turner, Wright, Hairston, Torres, Duda, Nickeas.
  22. It didn't. I made a change. My apologies to Mr. Angell.
  23. RA on RA (Angell on Dickey): ... the horrendous din of the game and its perpetual, distracting flow of replay and statistics and expertise and P.R. and money and expectation and fatigue have perhaps dimmed, leaving him still in touch with the elegant and, for now, perfectly recallable and repeatable movements of his body and shoulders and the feel of the thing on his fingertips. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/sportingscene/2012/06/ra-dickey-one-hitters.html#ixzz1yI0oxA8O
