  1. Loney got called out on strikes on a pitch a foot out of the strike zone. Umps suck. I'm sick of them. The idiot who couldn't find the strike zone in game one if you spotted him "strike" and "zon" gets game 2 off because it's a doubleheader... poor baby worked so hard! So MLB has to fly a minor league umpire in for game 2. Pathetic. Fire them all.
  2. It seems like Rivera has 4 HR's in about 5 hits for the season.
  3. Ronnie complains about replay, and I understand that it slows down a slow game, but the lousy umps missed two calls and the calls were corrected. Fix replay and get better umps but don't eliminate replay.
  4. I'm a big fan of Lucroy. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/mets-interested-in-jonathan-lucroy-offering-travis-darnaud-in-return.html
  5. I understand the tradition but shouldn't the HoF speeches be made when games are not ongoing? Perhaps 7 to 8 PM?
  6. Helluva job by Papelbon today.
  7. Terry should have used Kelly Johnson. Or the Bat Boy instead of de Aza. Does Sandy not want to admit a mistake so he keeps de Aza on the team?
  8. Edgy: He was very good and better than the material.
  9. This barely qualifies as popular culture but it's close enough: In the new play "Another Way Home", currently at the J Theater in Washington, DC, the Dad wears a Mets cap, pictured in this too-kind review: https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/theater_dance/kid-goes-missing-and-family-freaks-gently-in-theater-j-play/2016/06/28/136a0474-3d3f-11e6-80bc-d06711fd2125_story.html
  10. Double switches in the 6th inning are too early but Terry's done them in the 5th.
  11. I haven't given up on the NL East but gotta keep both eyes open. Either way, win tonight.
  12. It's not just being 6 games back of WSH, it's being ahead of 3 of these 4 teams: LAD, MIA, STL, PIT. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/wildcard.jsp
  13. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Freaking Torre would fill his roster with Yankees and we can't even get Terry to insert one Met into the game.Right. Even as an "adult", I'm pissed. Put Colon in early--how many more of these will he have? Get your closer some action if only to get his work in (now, he will pitch Friday regardless of the score). Show some pride for your team being the NL Champs. Terry was more concerned with satisfying the fans of every other team but his own.
  14. By all means F cancer but what the hell is this mid-game concert? The game didn't start until 8:20. Way to grow the game, Manfred. Having said that, this was nice: Rising Apple ?@RisingAppleBlog 54s55 seconds ago During tonight's #StandUpToCancer moment, Terry Collins, Tim Teufel, and Daniel Murphy wrote that they were standing up for Sandy. Perfect.
  15. Rosario is an excellent tweeter. He appears to be smart and humble. #dontbesurprisedbeready https://twitter.com/Amed_Rosario Prediction of a 2017 Spring Training storyline: Cabrera teaching Rosario how to be a major league SS
  16. Good chance that Verducci finds an excuse to interview Torre tonight, right?
  17. Terry might want to win but it's not as important to Jose Fernandez: http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/07/12/jose-fernandez-says-hell-groove-fastballs-so-david-ortiz-can-hit-a-homer/
  18. My enthusiasm has been curbed without Cespedes in the lineup. Colon might be held in reserve and Familia won't be seen until the 9th so the thought of thrilling to the arrogance of Joe Buck, hearing from Brave John Smoltz (who might be good, I don't care), and then not-watching the best players (e.g., Bumgarner, Strasburg) while we're told that the game "counts"... yeah, I care a whole lot less, too. Move the game to Wednesday so that Sunday pitchers can participate and the Futures game can have the proper showcase it deserves.
  19. Edgy MD wrote: You may not want to interrupt Conforto's season, but there's also Kelly, Reynolds, Herrera, and Campbell as options. Plawecki too.Oddly enough, it would have given those guys an extra day of playing or at least warming up, rather than an interruption, as the 51s were off on Sunday.
  20. Well said CF. If management was concerned about having enough arms in the bullpen, they should have made deGrom available out of the pen yesterday (the way the Nationals used Roark).
  21. For what it's worth, I think that Rivera was still available so saving Loney for the unlikely event that de Aza got on wasn't the only option.
  22. You make a good point Nymr83. They saved Loney with 2 outs for something that never happened.
  23. I don't know if this is dumb: Syndergaard won't start until the 19th which is 11 days after his last appearance. The Mets could have DL'd him, thereby adding another player and giving him additional rest, and only lost him for an additional 4 days.
  24. He should have been DFA'd weeks ago but perhaps Sandy won't admit his mistake or he thinks he can find a sucker for a trade. Either way, having him up in that spot was terrible. If Yo was n/a than Terry didn't have a choice as Loney had to PH for the pitcher.
  25. Captain Wright is all class: http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/david-wright-gives-spirited-all-star-gifts-to-noah-syndergaard-jeurys-familia-1.12024481
