Hard to believe that Edgy and I saw each other amidst the announced crowd of 3,622 (which wasn't more than 1000). BTW, Amed Rosario looked good.
  2. The parking is terrible in Adams Morgan and there is no close Metro stop: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adams_Morgan
  3. I'm asking this in all seriousness: which hitter leaves the roster if Conforto is recalled? On this roster, replace TJ Rivera with Walker: http://m.mets.mlb.com/roster/ Ruggiano is a righty OF which they need and has done well.

Can't say I disagree about Johnson over Flores at 2B, though. Terry Collins, genius. I'm having CROW for dinner.
  6. Bruce has to be in there, regardless of his cramps and slump. And Flores has no business playing against a righty. K. Johnson booted a grounder yesterday so he hits the bench but he should be in there. And Rivera (w/o Noah pitching) against a righty? This is a must win and Terry has no fucking clue what to do. Fucking Molina is playing for the 3d day in a row but d'Arnaud can't?
  7. On the out-of-town scoreboard, here's a nice play: http://thebiglead.com/2016/08/23/video-are-you-kidding-me-billy-hamilton/
  8. Great play by blondie!
  9. Centerfield wrote: I hate to belabor a point here but how is Collins not arguing that Cespedes strikeout? You have to create a fuss there. Ask for help. That was a key at bat. Fuck Terry. Showalter challenged 3 calls in 3 innings (won all 3) tonight. That's being in the game and sticking up for your players. Terry just wants everyone to love him and not think he's a hot head.
  10. Who gets called up to replace Niese? Edgin, Gilmartin, Goeddel, Verrett, Ynoa? An embarrassment of riches or just embarrassing?
  11. According to Baseball Prospectus, the Mets have a 13.4% chance of participating in the playoffs. According to 538, it's 14%.
  12. Noah should have demanded that he stay in the game. Terry always falls for that.
  13. I didn't see it so I am asking the group: what was your opinion when Terry took out Lugo? Lugo had only thrown 69 pitches but there were 2 runners on, a lefty batter and Blevins was available. Shouldn't Terry have known that Bochy would PH with a righty or was Lugo clearly tiring (he had been pitching out of the bullpen) and it was the proper move regardless of what Bochy did?
  14. How about a decent rotation in Vegas? I don't care what the other teams do, this is supposed to be a championship-level team but it's a team which scrounges for starters.

  16. Frayed Knot wrote: Ashie62 wrote: Seth Lugo? Are you shittin me? And you prefer who exactly on less than a day's notice? I'd suggest that perhaps the team should have better options available for spot starts. Niese didn't last 4 innings and he's getting another start. IMO Sandy didn't do a good job stocking the system.
  17. Orioles: Paul Blair (signed by the Mets as an amateur free agent in 1961)
  18. Orioles: Melvin Mora Roberto Alomar George Bamberger
  19. From the Washington Post: Having Jonathan Papelbon on the Nationals made rooting for the Nationals a little less enjoyable. Now maybe players don’t, or shouldn’t, care whether the home fans like them. If a Nationals player did care, though, he probably wouldn’t have wanted to wear a T-shirt reading “Obama can’t ban these guns” to his let’s-make-amends spring training news conference. Nor would he have, on multiple occasions, played a political anthem while reporters were inside the Nats clubhouse. The ditty was called “Vote For Trump,” and it included promises that “the wall will get built by Mexico” and that Trump would “bring back country [and] get rid of rap,” also noting that “if you don’t like it you can all just kiss our ass.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2016/08/13/jonathan-papelbons-acquisition-was-a-mistake-nats-fans-saw-coming/
  20. Marlins win after a bad call. The catcher blocked the lane to end the game and it wasn't called or reversed. And the catcher juggled the ball. Other than that, the call was correct.
  21. You know what's nice about these Mets? They don't tease you by getting the potential winning runner on base and then stranding him. That would require getting someone on base.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: I know it'll never happen but I'd stick with Reed for the 9th, at least to start. If he gets into trouble then bring on Familia. That would have been a good idea.
  23. And now they will release jackass Papelbon today. Everything is going well for Washington. No excuses. I can't wait for them to crash and burn in the playoffs.
  24. Fman99 wrote: Zvon wrote: bmfc1 wrote: d'Arnaud starts tonight against a team that has 4 steals this season... of home! Passed ball on a pitch right over the middle. If d'Arnaud don't kaBOOM one tonight I'm thru w/him. I've seen enough. Bases loaded, no out. Whoa, good call. I was being sarcastic.
  25. Explain why Verrett got another start and "there was no one else" is not a valid answer.
