  1. I imagine that Noah will be part of Team USA and he made the initial list: http://nypost.com/2016/11/01/mike-trout-bryce-harper-putting-us-in-tough-wbc-spot/ Maybe David Wright will be a coach in his "Captain America" capacity. The Mets don't have any games against the WBC teams as others in Florida do. Ty Kelly is eligible for Team Israel but Korea is a long commute, especially for a guy hoping to make the majors.
  2. It's OK. It has concourses like Shea, rather than open-interior space like modern ballparks, so if you go for food you miss the game. It could use more food options and another merchandise store (last March, post-World Series, there was a line to get in the store). The complex is nice but you don't see that when you're at a game.

  4. I'm sure that the Wilpons have made out well financially with Port St. Lucie but this means more years of playing the same teams over and over. The Braves might move closer to PSL but that will still mean numerous games against the Braves, Astros, Cardinals, Marlins and Nationals.
  5. I'd like to think that the line about the SFG statues is a dig at the Mets.
  6. An extra week of spring training because of the WBC! Hooray? I'm guessing that they'll add games on the 31st and the 1st somewhere outside of Florida. Don't forget that WAS and HOU are now in Palm Beach. No night games.
  7. No games, no news, and the media has to print something so we get corny headlines such as these.
  8. Photo-shopped images and pool photos (in more than paper) lose points for me.
  9. Joe West, tonight's home plate umpire, was once ejected from a Mariners-Angels game by Leslie Nielsen. It's true!
  10. The first edition of the 2017 calendar is available: http://www.calendars.com/New-York-Mets-Wall-Calendar/New-York-Mets-Wall-Calendar/prod201700003455/?categoryId=cat00433&seoCatId=cat00433
  11. Bryce Harper asks if he just hit a walk-off homerun but the chances of that are zero.
  12. Are you frigging kidding me? http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/10/24/world-series-umpiring-crew-announced-hi-joe-west/
  13. Heyward's WAR was positive but a big drop off from the previous two years. Still, Epstein would remind us they had him and the Cardinals didn't. And his fielding was still very good. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=4940&position=OF
  14. Someone's gotta win the Series and it won't be the Royals. Who do you think will win and in how many games?
  15. This World Series would have a great storyline if it just had the Cubs but it also has the Indians. Two long-suffering franchises. "Rookie of the Year" vs. "Major League." Wow. Screw it, the Mets aren't in it. But someone has to win... who do you WANT to win?
  16. Fman99 wrote: Did it make anyone else sad to see a team's closer come in to a postseason game and shut down his opponents with nasty stuff? Or was it just me? Me too. For all of his saves, he's not elite. If he has his "stuff" in that 9th inning against SF, maybe the Mets are playing the Cubs right now.
  17. We saw Wilson Ramos cause the Mets a lot of damage this year but 2016 may have been an aberration. Look at his WAR vs. other seasons: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1433&position=C Plus, he's coming off an ACL injury. I think that they are going to give d'Arnaud every chance to win the job back.
  18. Sandy has a lot of work: C--d'Arnaud wasn't good enough to start a majority of the games at the end of the year. Do they think he will rebound? Rene doesn't hit well enough to start everyday. Do they look for a new C? 1B--Duda? Conforto? Not Loney, I think. 2B--Work out something with Walker? Rivera? Flores? 3B--Wright? Reyes? SS--Cabrera. LF--Ces? Conforto? Nimmo? CF--Granderson? Lagares? RF--Granderson? Bruce? Does Kelly Johnson comes back as the super-sub or does Sandy wait until mid-season to trade for him again?
  19. The Dodgers left 12 runners on base and were 1 for 9 with RISP. And frigging Murphy continues to hit (he also misplayed a ball but it didn't cost them, which is unfortunate). He thinks he's funny: Daniel Murphy when asked what he learned in last year's playoffs: 'Catch the ball... [awkward silence]... come on, that was funny.' — Chase Hughes (@chasehughesCSN) October 6, 2016
  20. So sad Nationals. Enjoy your trip home on shitty Metro (I had to hear "enjoy the game Nationals fans!" over and over during my commute).
  21. Fman99 wrote: I want to say that I'm satisfied but I can't, not yet. I really wanted to see them play the Cubbies. Me too... the Mets would have won that series.
  22. A tin can would have been a better umpire than Mike Winters. He goes into the grouping with CB Bucknor, Angel Hernandez and Adam Hamari.
  23. Hell of a season. In April, we wouldn't have "taken" losing the Wild Card but at 60-62, this seemed like a fantasy. What a great last month and a half. And we got another taste, even if it was too small a taste, of post-season baseball.
  24. Yo swings at a 2-0 pitch down 3 runs.
