  1. Of the two, it's "GOB" over the bloated alternative but neither is as good as a Yoenis cover.

  3. I'm not a fan of Tim or any of the Tebows but he takes up space in meaningless games and the press can talk to him instead of falling asleep at Jay Bruce's locker. The media treats him like a Make-A-Wish kid ("look at that effort" after he faceplants into the dirt while the ball soars over his head) but he provides the Mets some publicity and gives some of the fans a reason to pay attention to the 6th to 9th innings of the 1st 2 weeks of spring training games.
  4. Per Ken Rosenthal in The Athletic, the Pirates wanted Nimmo in a McCutchen deal and the Mets declined. Rosenthal said that the Mets could use Nimmo "as the centerpiece of a deal for Pirates super-utility man Josh Harrison" but are considering Eduardo Nunez who is a free agent. The two players are comparable multi-position threats. Nunez is 23 days older than Harrison. His career batting average is .282 to Harrison’s .281, and both have an identical career .735 OPS. If the Mets could sign Nunez for less than they would pay Harrison and still keep Nimmo, that seemingly would be a preferred option. https://theathletic.com/213673/2018/01/16/rosenthal-mets-wouldnt-include-nimmo-in-deal-for-pirates-mccutchen/
  5. The 3d and 4th best covers, the non-Daily News Division. Jose gets in over the bloated cover (despite the good headline).

  9. Scott Rogowsky, the host of the very popular game HQ Trivia, sports a Mets ski cap and makes a Lucas Duda reference on his Twitter profile page: http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2018/01/09/264452826/hq-trivia-host-scott-rogowsky-is-a-huge-mets-fan
  10. The Post cover is clever and appropriate for Opening Day but the Mets have too much company on the page. The News cover pops out and is an excellent picture.
  11. cooby wrote: I keep getting Ray Ramirez and Ray Romano mixed up. Nobody Loves Ray (Ramirez).
  12. The deGrom photo could be from any game. "God Of Blunder" is clever and, combined with the photo, captures a decisive moment in a horrible season.

  14. Wade Davis to the Rockies. Another big market free agent signing.
  15. I think that was me. It's a Rob Burnett film and he was David Letterman's right hand man.

  17. Seth Lugo got engaged. I hope that his spin rate is high on the honeymoon. [tweet:1byzfbf9] [/tweet:1byzfbf9]
  18. Some of the ESPN Sunday Night Schedule has been announced and so far, it doesn't screw up any home dates: http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2017/12/batter-espns-2018-sunday-night-baseball-starting-lineup/
  19. If that's the Mets 4-5-6 on Opening Day, then we are f'd and being f'd.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Wait, when did Smoker become an ex-Met? My mistake. I forgot about him and he's a Met that I like.
  21. Centerfield wrote: And yes, hoping others will rally around it. bmfc doing his best on twitter to make it so! Gotta be, Centerfield.
  22. smg58 wrote: The Phillies gave $60 million to a guy whose career OPS+ is 1 point higher than Lucas Duda's, at a position where they were already strong, and that's your counter-example for why we need to act now? Santana had a 3.0 WAR in '17 and a 3.4 WAR in '16, so yeah, that's my "counter-example", especially when Sandy tore down Smith not 2 months ago (which he now claims was to light a fire). I hope you're right, it's not February yet but I'm skeptical.
  23. No surprise that the Wilpons insulted the press and us by not commenting. Meanwhile, PHI gets Carlos Santana while Sandy sits around and hopes that the market falls his way.
  24. Paul Sewald got married last night. Josh Smoker was there: [tweet:3uouebz4] [/tweet:3uouebz4]
