  1. Here we go Astros!
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: btw, how much would the Nationals hate this one?!? ... That's one of the problems with these things, EVERY solution is bound to piss someone off. Then you might as well piss off WSH. F them.
  3. I prefer Wayne Randazzo's idea of 8 4-team divisions:
  4. Baseball America has news of a new 32-team league--that's it, one league--with 4 divisions and the Mets in the "North" with six AL teams: Consider four eight-team divisions with the addition of teams in Portland and Montreal: East: Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Miami, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington. North: Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota, Montreal, both New York franchises and Toronto. Midwest: Both Chicago franchises, Colorado, Houston, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Texas. West: Anaheim, Arizona, Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. 6. d'Kong76 wrote: Yeah, they need to work on that rule some. Agreed on nice job by Darling. Nice to see wanker Maddon run. "It's like the soda tax. Some rules don't work." SHUDDUP.

  9. Verlander is gonna get sooooooooo lucky tonight. And deservedly so.
  10. Tough one to pick sides: CHC deserves thanks for beating WSH but they won last year and many of their fans are poseurs and frontrunners. LAD has Granderson but they also have Utley. I'm going with LAD but not with any passion and I'll root for HOU either way if that happens.
  11. Mets Willets Point wrote: For such a good team over the last 5-6 years, the Nats have had a horrid record of futility come October. This is why I wanted them to win this year, so that I might actually be able to muster up some feeling of hate for them instead of pity. No reason to pity them from my perspective. Rizzo said "we've won 4 division championship, we've played tough series" so that's apparently what he's going for. Their fans will be fine, they barely care. One told me that he's glad he can save money on playoff tickets. It was a bizarre, tough loss but the hell with them. They have the division championship in 2018 all but locked up already and that's a nice way to go into the off-season. How bizarre was it? Unprecedented, per from Barry Svrluga about the top of the 5th: Four straight Cubs reached base in unconventional ways, some known only to true baseball seam heads — an intentional walk, a strikeout with a passed ball (about which there was some controversy), catcher interference and a hit batsman. The website baseball-reference.com has 2.73 million half-innings in its database. None of them contain those four events — let alone from four consecutive hitters.
  12. From Terry Pluto's column: http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf/2017/10/cleveland_indians_season_ends.html But the main culprit was this: The bats went silent. Francisco Lindor? The All-Star shortstop was 2-for-18 ... six strikeouts. Jason Kipnis? He was 4-for-22 ... eight strikeouts. Jose Ramirez? He was 2-for-20 ... seven strikeouts. Edwin Encarnacion? He was 0-for-7 ... and missed three games with an ankle injury. Michael Brantley? Coming back from an ankle injury, he was 1-for-11. Tribe designated hitters were designated outs ... a combined 1-for-18, Brantley's single was the only hit. The weight of great expectations combined with a fear of a postseason flop seemed to infect nearly ever Cleveland player swinging a bat. The Indians batted .171 for the five games.
  13. This was the worst day of baseball since Noah got hurt and before that last year's WC game. I fantasized about both of those SOBs being eliminated but now they play on. I have no doubt that WSH will win today and baseball life will continue to suck for at least 2 more weeks. Now to congratulate a MFY fan across the hall. Crap.
  14. Lester gives up a hit so alleged genius Maddon takes out Lester for POS Carl Edwards who can't throw a strike. Maddon fucked up this inning by taking out Lester. What an idiot.
  15. How about a discarded John Farrell? He managed BOS to the AL East title but was "relieved of his duties" today. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/258211184/red-sox-dismiss-john-farrell/?topicId=27118122
  16. Nationals dysfunction. So sad: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/stephen-strasburg-and-nationals-commit-biggest-error-of-the-season/2017/10/11/fdcab2de-ae81-11e7-be94-fabb0f1e9ffb_story.html?utm_term=.58582c256f9a
  17. The spring schedule continues to grow, albeit without any announcements from the Mets. https://www.springtrainingonline.com/features/master-schedule.htm
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Yeah, I think bmfc meant Strasburg & Gio rather than Scherzer who went just yesterday. And now the game HAS been postponed until Wednesday so we'll find out soon enough how they, or the Cubs for that matter, will adjust their rotations. Yes, that's what I meant. I despise all of them so much that I get their names confused.
  19. Lots of rain in the forecast. A rainout would allow WSH to skip Roark and then go Scherzer, Gonzalez.
  20. Did Francona blow it by using Bauer on 3 days rest?
  21. One more and the Nationals are gone! Go Cubs Go and you can fly that stupid flag and let your yuppie, front running fans go nuts! Just one more win and all the idiot Nationals fans (redundant) can go under a rock until April. Do it Maddon!!!
  22. Good one.
  23. Yan more win and the MFYs are done.
  24. Ryder Ryan better be good.
  25. Damn. This seemed to be almost a lock to get to 2-0.
