  1. Let's see if Acuna has his cap on straight. http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2018/02/27/braves-would-like-ronald-acuna-to-keep-hat-straight/ Seriously ATL, your GM cheated and this is what you're worried about?
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Leads Las Vegas in home runs. Comes up in September and hits 2. One of them scores Tebow who reached on a "swinging bunt".
  3. K-Kaz looks bigger than the 6'0", 192 on his roster page. A-Gon effortlessly made a nice play and, if his body allows, it will nice to have good defense at 1st
  4. Their characters became more focused, hurt more as their needs were ignored, and I felt their pain.
  5. Imagine if the Mets spent real money and signed Arrieta instead of Vargas. Vargas is OK but Arrieta could have made things interesting with WSH.
  6. The 1st hour I wondered what the hell I was watching. I even asked my son if it was a documentary. By the end I was captivated and still can't help thinking of these people and what they represent in America. They are ignored, not counted, under the radar, and putting them in the shadow of Disney World was brilliant. One of my favorite movies of the year.
  7. "Jay and Shel".
  8. I am choosing to believe that this didn't happen.
  9. I hope that Dave Eiland saw enough in Vargas to recommend the signing. You would think that Sandy checked with him first.
  10. Panik is a better fielder than Cabrera so if they can move Cabrera then bring Panik home! https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=11936&position=2B Fielding ratings over the last 2 years: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=2b&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2017&month=0&season1=2017&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  11. [tweet:tpvu2ken] [/tweet:tpvu2ken] The Mets are back to a three small "d" team.
  12. Sleepy Matt homers against the Reds: http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2016/09/fresh_off_a_red-eye_flight_matt_reynolds_homers_fo.html https://www.mlb.com/mets/video/reynolds-great-day-at-the-plate/c-1140299683?tid=52578838
  13. When I referenced Matt den Dekker in this thread, I didn't anticipate this: [tweet:1iljq29k] [/tweet:1iljq29k]
  14. While I'm not upset about his departure, even to the MFNs (he'll appear now and again as did Matt den Dekker), it would have been nice to get a body in return, as was the case with Smoker, rather than a few bucks which likely goes to the Madoff fund.
  15. A tease for the article appears on the cover of the latest SI which I'm sure didn't make Eagles fans happy. I also got two Jeter cards when I purchased a new pack of Topps. How can we miss him if he won't go away?

  17. Fangraphs makes the same point, late in the column: After having never once produced a double-digit walk rate in his career, Frazier posted a 14.4% mark last season while also cutting his strikeout rate by three percentage points (21.7%). It was the sixth-best walk rate in the game amongst qualified hitters. Frazier cut his out-of-zone swing rate by a whopping eight percentage points to a career-low 24.5% in 2017, and his swing rate fell to a career-low 58.6%, down from 72.6% in 2015. His swinging-strike rate fell to 9.3%, another career low. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mets-add-todd-frazier-at-bargain-price/
  18. The Players apparently agree with the title of this thread and are considering a boycott of spring training: [tweet:16juie3l]https://twitter.com/bvanwagenen/status/959461867990155265[/tweet:16juie3l]
  19. Mets get a Stony Brook alum. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=623354#/career/R/pitching/2017/ALL

  21. Per this article, https://nypost.com/2018/01/30/mets-being-closer-less-is-more-than-a-tactic-its-an-attitude/ Mickey sent this book to his staff. https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-James-Kerr-ebook/dp/B00OGUP7RQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517413586&sr=8-1&keywords=legacy+book Has anyone read it?

  24. Great work, Mr. Grimm. Google translated the title of Maja's reality series as "Out from behind the desk".
  25. Valadius wrote: Giving up a bunch of assets for minor league relief pitchers as opposed to more useful talent sure didn't help. Right. Sandy got borderline-crap for established major leaguers because the Wilpons needed the other team to take on salary. If the Wilpons ran the team (or were able to run the team) like a team in New York with their own cable channel and a new ballpark they could have focused on the player rather than the trade being a fancy salary dump.
