  1. Reyes? Are you kidding me? Sometimes I wonder if Mickey is taunting Sandy: "if you won't cut him, I'll play him to show you the quality of the players you're giving me."
  2. OH COME ON! [tweet:1asc2yfg] [/tweet:1asc2yfg]
  3. For the plethora of trades made by Sandy, he couldn't get one decent lefty who could get left-handed batters out and help the current team. The only one in the entire damn organization is Blevins, who is obviously not what he was last year at the moment, so when they need another lefty for the bullpen, there are none. But at least Sandy saved the Wilpons some money with those deals.

  6. Apparently, Robles is with the team and will be activated on Monday. I really don't care if he's healthy and there is a lack of healthy pitchers, there is no way that Robles should ever pitch again for the Mets. I would rather have Doug Sisk pitch for this team and I don't mean Sisk from 1984 I mean now and he's 60.

I trust your judgment in minor leaguers but I could use some hope. Then hope. It's free, and it's wonderful. Yes, Rhame has shown me something. He's shown you something too. Just not today. I was complimenting your knowledge of the Mets farm system and you replied with condescension. Learn to take a compliment. Don't tell me that Rhame has shown me anything because all he's shown me is that he wears glasses.

  9. DocTee wrote: When the hell is Swarzak available? Or any of those half-dozen minor league middle relievers we acquired at the trade deadline? Swarzak got hurt in ST and then hurt again after briefly appearing for the Mets. I read that he's slowly making his way back. Edgy knows better than I do but none of the "bounty" that the Mets genius GM acquired last season for Bruce, Granderson and Reed are any good (other than one guy who is in A ball). Meanwhile, what are they going to do with Vargas and Ramos? They aren't going to send them down or cut them because that would mean Sandy would be admitting two mistakes.
  10. This note from Tim Britton in The Athletic didn't make me feel any better: Ramos is being paid more than Addison Reed. So Sandy traded away Reed and didn't resign him but then traded for Ramos who is much, much worse and makes more money. Sandy is an idiot. That Reed ended up signing a deal for less annual money to be a setup man in Minnesota — and that he’s been very good in that role — does not make any of this easier to swallow. https://theathletic.com/369143?shared_by=133087 BTW, Tim Britton does a great job covering The Mets in The Athletic. It's worth the money, especially in an age when The Times is often using AP stories for The Mets.
  11. Mickey brought Ramos INTO THE GAME when he didn't have to. Fucking idiot. Sandy traded FOR Ramos when no one cared. Fucking idiot. I watched this entire game and didn't pay attention to a brilliant performance by Lebron. Fucking idiot.

I mean, yeah, he'd have to answer all kinds of questions about why he didn't bring in the lefty to face Yelich, but I have enough confidence in Gsellman there with two outs and the only runner not even in scoring position. Agreed, especially for Ramos. However, Mickey felt obligated to do something because so far, he appears to always want to do something.
  13. Bruce again saves his strength for his future employer, the Astros this July.
  14. In contrast, Rosario swings wildly at ball 2. He would have been ahead on the count 2-0. Dammit.
  15. Impressive at-bat from Guillorme. For a rookie to keep fighting off pitches and then have the discipline to not swing on ball 4 was a very good sign.
  16. I liked Frazier emploring Bautista to do the salt and pepper thing. Way to go Jose!
  17. Mickey is getting destroyed on Twitter, by writers and fans alike, for pinch-hitting Reyes when Noah had a low pitch count, the Mets have a lot of games coming up (including a DH on Monday where they do not have a SP for game 2) and it's not like Reyes had a great chance of getting hit off Hader (or mostly anyone).
  18. I have complete confidence that Jay Bruce will become good as soon as Sandy trades him to Houston this July.
  19. metirish wrote: From what I am reading and I am sure it's in that link a $22 million salary kicks in for next season if/when he gets 497 plate appearances this season, doubt many teams want to stomach that! Sherman says it "goes away": [tweet] [/tweet]
  20. Boston DFA'd Hanley Ramirez today. Putting aside his Marlins days (didn't he dance after the Mets were Glavine'd out of contention?), he fits the Sandy criteria of someone who will be cheap, is old, and was really good 10 years ago. Worth a shot to platoon with Gonzalez at 1B? https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2018/05/25/red-sox-part-ways-with-hanley-ramirez/V8PHkHq10EEMLEATQKCeQK/story.html https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/ramirha01.shtml [tweet:81nfxqvl] [/tweet:81nfxqvl]
  21. In almost an instant, the narrative changes from Mets winning 5 of 6 to losers of 2 of 3 against the horrible Marlins. Pathetic.
  22. The Athletic's latest mock. With all due respect to Shane's university, I'd rather the Mets get a college hitter. 6. New York Mets (slot value: $5,525,200) Selection: Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida The Mets have gone with pitchers with their last two top picks and they could go with a hitter here, but McClanahan’s potential as a top-of-the-rotation left-hander is tough to ignore. He has 111 strikeouts in just 66 innings this season. Although his command has come and gone at times this year, McClanahan has shown plus stuff, with his fastball touching triple digits and his changeup ranking among the best in this class. The South Florida ace had Tommy John surgery his freshman year, and command issues aren’t uncommon the first couple of years after that surgery. Others in play at this spot include India and South Alabama CF Travis Swaggerty. https://theathletic.com/363388?shared_by=133087
  23. Nice job by Wheeler. Matz would have fallen apart after Reyes' 1st error but Wheeler stayed with it, overcame the 2d error, and looked good.
  24. Welcome Aaron Laffey (Taffy): http://www.somersetpatriots.com/news/?article_id=3297
  25. Dammit Jose, those 2 runs are on you, dinosaur.
