  1. Good summary of someone I saw a lot this spring. Ryan almost made the team (he was one of the last cuts). He's very competitive/gets pissed when he gives up a hit or walk. He looked good this spring and the way things go, he'll be in Flushing sooner than later.
  2. I was impressed with Ali Sanchez, catcher, during Spring Training. He doesn't have a much of a bat but, and hear me out, he has a great arm and can throw out runners at second base! I know we're not used to seeing it but I saw him do it 2 or 3 times this spring! I thought "don't they go from 1st to 2nd base automatically?" but it turns out that if you throw it there and someone catches it and tags the runner before he touches the base, he is out! We never see that so it was a complete surprise!
  3. Swing the damn bat!
  4. The Mets are hitting as if they are sleepy.
  5. That was a pathetic AB from Davis--swung at a ball and stood there for two fat pitches. Maybe he should be living with the Fingermans when d'Arnaud is ready.
  6. For what it's worth, hopefully not much, these pitchers matched up on March 12 and Richards pitched 5 shutout innings to get the win. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2019/03/12/567352#game_state=final,game_tab=box,game=567352https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2019/03/12/567352#game_state=final,game_tab=box,game=567352
  7. Nice of the Marlins to move the game up a whole hour due to the Mets day game tomorrow in Queens. Meanwhile, WSH is playing this afternoon so they will be in New York, resting or perhaps going to a museum or a show, while the Mets are still playing in Miami.
  8. The Nationals and their fans showed the world what we already know: that they are classless pieces of trash. What kind of professional organization tweets this: Phillies 8 Nationals 2 in the 8th and Harper just hit a long home run.
  9. Per Ken Rosenthal, the Mets are inquiring about Keuchel and Kimbrel: The Mets and Brewers are among the other clubs that have checked in on Keuchel, though the Brewers remain more interested in the other top remaining free agent, reliever Craig Kimbrel, sources say. The Mets continue to call on both Keuchel and Kimbrel as a matter of due diligence, and other contenders are taking the same approach, not wanting to be caught unaware if an opportunity arises; the Rays have stayed in touch on Kimbrel as well, sources say. For the Mets, the addition of Keuchel or Kimbrel would be a luxury, and one that likely would require creativity in order to fit into their budget. The team currently is set with five starting pitchers, and Jeurys Familia and Edwin Díaz at the back of its bullpen. But contenders are forever in search of quality pitching depth. And the Mets, currently carrying 12 pitchers, easily could expand to 13. https://theathletic.com/897986/2019/03/31/teams-are-circling-on-keuchel-and-kimbrel-the-padres-are-determined-to-add-a-starter/https://theathletic.com/897986/2019/03/31/teams-are-circling-on-keuchel-and-kimbrel-the-padres-are-determined-to-add-a-starter/
  10. But you can't move them back and forth once the week has begun.
  11. My older son, who knows a thing or two about beer, says that "Mikkeller is awesome".
  12. That's a flashy roster for the Fingermans and the rest of the Syracuse area with several "hey, isn't that?" players.
  13. =41Forever post_id=5679 time=1553975458 user_id=69] We've got two Pooolers there, right? Good for them!
  14. =Centerfield post_id=5582 time=1553874809 user_id=65] I'm driving down to Washington tonight. We'll be in section 116. Our first trip to Nationals Park.
  15. bump!
  16. Meanwhile, the Nationals new AAA franchise is in Fresno so they are keeping the SP and C most likely to be called up next at their AA Harrisburg franchise for quicker access to DC. Can you imagine being so dumb to have a AAA franchise across the country?
  17. He only signed today to get out of the Syracuse trip.
  18. The Time cover was the equivalent of an in-season Yearbook cover. Easy choice for me.
  19. 88-74 Wild Card Wild Card win, lose in the NLDS.
  20. Where do you think the Mets will finish in the NL East? Will they make the playoffs? If so, how far do they go? This is not your hopes and dreams but your predictions
  21. He's right. Instead of flying to NY today, they are on a bus for 4 hours to spend the night in Sarasota to play yet another exhibition game tomorrow. From there, they fly to Syracuse for a workout (which they obviously could have done at Citi Field). After that, they fly to DC. By contrast, the Nationals are home tonight in advance of tomorrow's practice game against the MFYs. Jeffy likely pushed for the Syracuse trip as publicity for his AAA team but it's not good for the players who should have been given a day or two in New York to check the mail and water the plants. BVW, as the former player's agent, should have said something but he's too busy patting himself on the back.
  22. Rained out. It's pouring so this isn't a surprise. The Marlins have won 10 in a row, for what that's worth. Zack Wheeler was supposed to pitch but the Mets are off tomorrow so they are going to have to make work for him in a simulated game.
  23. I was looking forward to seeing him throwing the heat in spring training. Hopefully, he will in 2020 and beyond.

  25. Avilan is supposed to make the team but that was his first bad outing of the spring. Rhame was awful but he wasn't helped when Rymer (Reason) Liriano misplayed a flyball into a double. I was sitting 15 rows behind first and could hear the collision between Alonso and Reddick (my first thought was concern for Alonso's arm).
