  1. Fortunately, there was no cover with me seconds before Diaz gave up THAT game-winning HR (as shown on MASN, right before the pitch). https://postimg.cc/065JYKrg This is self-promoting but I wouldn't mind if Zvon was around to do a fake News, Newsday, or Post cover with that picture accompanying a game-related headline.
  2. As with every aspect of the Derby, I'm looking forward to it.
  3. I don't remember the name of the older gentleman. Is he still around?

  5. I voted for the Justin Wilson cover because it's likely the only Justin Wilson cover.
  6. Oh no, the next round is going to have that game against WSH.
  7. Enjoy, but just know that a horse, if not horses, might be running through the lobby of HQ in Stockholm.
  8. "If you're not going to penalize a team for this, the rules are meaningless". v. "Where's the crime? Everyone does it!"
  9. Will you be visiting Tabloid Cover HQ?
  10. During the World Series, WSH was so confident that HOU was doing something that they 1) gave signs as if a runner was on 2B even if there wasn't and 2) changed signs several times during the game. As FK said, suspensions might happen and I wonder if it will be at a New Orleans Saints magnitude. [bLOCKQUOTE]From The Washington Post: During the World Series, the Washington Nationals went to great lengths to alter and disguise their system of catchers' signs in preparation for playing at Minute Maid Park, with pitchers and catchers using five different sets of signs. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/11/12/astros-sign-stealing-mlb/https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/11/12/astros-sign-stealing-mlb/[/bLOCKQUOTE] Side-question that might be irrelevant: Brodie is AJ Hinch's buddy. Did he know?

  12. [bLOCKQUOTE]Alonso has already started working out again. He is also on the hunt for a wedding venue. No date has been set, but his mother said he had declared next October off limits. “It can't be,” he told her. “I'll be playing baseball.”[/bLOCKQUOTE] https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/11/sports/baseball/pete-alonso-rookie-of-the-year.htmlhttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/11/sports/baseball/pete-alonso-rookie-of-the-year.html Ceremony ON the parade float? He might consummate the marriage on the parade float.

  14. Damn, that Sunday loss to WSH broke the Mets' momentum and helped WSH regain their footing.
  15. Such a strong week. I voted for "Fortune 500-Plus" which isn't getting any other votes but it's a clever headline with a unique picture. I liked the picture with Frazier but it's too busy due to the unnecessary placing of the box with Vaccaro.
  16. I refuse to recognize the greatness of Mattingly unless and until the greatness of Keith is recognized. Until then, he's merely the manager of the Marlins who whines and bitches about every call and makes unnecessary challenges.
  17. "Clubber" didn't need to include Vlad, Jr. It's the New York Daily News, not the Toronto Globe and Mail.
  18. I was at three of those games. Thanks for the memories!
  19. LWFS: Where does Alonso fall?
  20. Christine Brennan with some thoughts in the very ad-filled USA Today: [bLOCKQUOTE]When asked about his MAGA move, Suzuki texted USA TODAY Sports: “Just trying to have some fun. Everybody makes everything political. It was about our team winning the World Series.” Of course, Suzuki was the one who made this political. I've written about White House visits by sports teams since the 1980s, and I can't remember any quite like this. Most of them, you can barely remember who was president. It was just a team visiting the White House.[/bLOCKQUOTE] https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/columnist/brennan/2019/11/04/trump-nationals-swing-and-miss-partisan-play-white-house/4160307002/https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/columnist/brennan/2019/11/04/trump-nationals-swing-and-miss-partisan-play-white-house/4160307002/ So, it's "fun" to wear the campaign hat of a corrupt president and doing so isn't "political". Got it. Go fuck yourself.
  21. No reason for him not to opt-out. At worst, WSH will offer him the same money and length so nothing will have changed but maybe someone else (please, especially outside of the NL East) will offer him more and longer. Can't hurt to find out after such a great Series.
  22. I'd be interested in some Nate Silver-level of analysis as to whether success in the 1st round of the Derby predicts success in later rounds. E.g., "Mane Man" is dominating its first-round matchup but does that mean it will continue to win or is it just facing weak competition at the moment?
  23. Drew Magary resigned from Deadspin today.
  24. The opening Spring Training game in West Palm Beach between Washington and Houston is going to be nuts!
