  1. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/1285935692497874945https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/1285935692497874945 So Washington (MFNs) and the MFYs get an extra home series even though they won't be the home team and there are no home fans (not that it matters much in Washington).
  2. I really dislike when the broadcast superimposes a strikezone onto the screen. SNY now has this feature (at least through the 2 exhibition games). From watching various games on MLBN it appears that it's standard for every broadcast.
  3. 1. 33-27 2. 2d. 3. Yes as the 2d place team. 4. Lose WS to Rays in 6 5. 13.
  4. The initial post has been revised.
  5. Not... yet!
  6. I hadn't considered that factor. We could do them based on 60 and then if the plug is pulled someone smarter than me can translate the numbers.
  7. Not yet!
  8. 1. The Mets record (60 games). 2. Where will they finish in the NL East? 3. Will The Mets make the playoffs (yes/no)? 4. If so, how far will they advance and the number of games in their final round? 5. How many home runs will Pete Alonso hit?
  9. I was going to say that this is finally the last Sunday afternoon without the Mets but ESPN has seen to it that we have one more week before I can make that statement.
  10. As Gary said tonight, for the first time since 1957 there will be there major league baseball teams playing in the State of New York.
  11. They're there. Keith and Ron are in one booth while Gary is in another. Gelbs is in the stands.
  12. The superimposed logo on the pitcher's mound is very distracting as was Keith yawning.
  13. Would you rather there be another documentary genuflectating at the alter of Michael Jordan? Jeter? There might not be anything new to you but it puts the Mets in the spotlight for a few evenings and it will also be new to another generation. I can't wait for Pete Alonso to tweet about the show and tell us how much he wishes he was on that team even though Keith would have forced him to play another position. Plus, you get to see and hear G-Fafif and that's always noteworthy.
  14. Yasiel Puig to Atlanta. Not good news.
  15. I'm in.
  16. BVW has handled the preparation for this season flawlessly. While other teams are having difficulty with their testing and protocols the Mets appear to be able to play without disruption and with a minimum of distraction. He has manipulated the draft to acquire two #1 picks in consecutive years (if it was easy every team would do it). On the field, he acquired Porcello and Wacha which were even more important moves with Noah's injury. He signed Betances for below value and made smaller moves that I think will benefit the team (e.g. Marisnick, Adams, Fargas). The Kelenick/Cano trade can't be undone but Cano has been a professional and a quiet leader. I answered "C" because Cohen didn't make his money by not observing his personnel but I would give BVW a lengthy grace period, especially with the work he has done this year.
  17. I think that they are trying to get the existing season ticket folders to renew now. Otherwise, they might as well have waited. Does anyone see anything "weird" in the schedule? I don't see anything big: 2 days off in one week of June but that is during a long road trip, a southern trip (Tampa, Atlanta, Miami) but that minimizes travel, 7 straight games against PIT, I don't like the Sunday in NY v LA and then Monday in SF, especially because the Sunday game could be moved to the evening but that's par for the course, the Mets play the Dodgers and then the Giants back-to-back in NY and then in California, 2 days off in another week of September, but nothing to the extent expressed by a ATL fan elsewhere: [bLOCKQUOTE]I have never in my life seen a schedule, for any team, like the 2021 Braves schedule. Well the good news is our last divisional road game is August 18 in Miami. No divisional road games in September. Yes you read that correctly. The bad news is we do not play a single road game against the NL West until AUGUST 30. Literally the final 17 road games of the season are against the NL West. Including a 10 game road trip to San Francisco, Arizona, and San Diego starting SEPTEMBER 17. Yes you read that correctly. File that one under MLB Scheduling Quirks. I know we got the All-Star game but I will never understand this one. What year is this, 1993? What did we do to anger the scheduling gods? Oh and then we get two straight off-days in late August, in the middle of a homestand, does any other team have this?[/bLOCKQUOTE] And here's one from Seattle: [bLOCKQUOTE]Another quirk in the schedule. The Mariners are scheduled to open up at home with a 3 game series against the Giants from Thursday through Saturday and have Sunday off before the White Sox come in for a 3 game series. Not often you see a team have an off day on a Sunday.[/bLOCKQUOTE]

  19. The Phillies thought that he threw at Rhys Hoskins (?) after his slow HR trot. I think that I wrote that the Phillies are nuts if they feel that Rhame has good enough control to throw near someone's head on purpose.
  20. To be released this Thursday. We know one date: https://twitter.com/timbhealey/status/1280573776925728770https://twitter.com/timbhealey/status/1280573776925728770
  21. I didn't prepare this: NL East Atlanta = 3H/3A Boston, 2H/2A NY Yankees & Tampa Bay, 3H Toronto, 3A Baltimore Miami = 3H/3A Tampa Bay, 2H/2A Baltimore & Toronto, 3H Boston, 3A NY Yankees NY Mets = 3H/3A NY Yankees, 2H/2A Baltimore & Boston, 3H Tampa Bay, 3A Toronto Philadelphia = 3H/3A Toronto, 2H/2A Boston & NY Yankees, 3H Baltimore, 3A Tampa Bay Washington = 3H/3A Baltimore, 2H/2A Tampa Bay & Toronto, 3H NY Yankees, 3A Boston https://twitter.com/darenw/status/1280275972667904003/photo/1https://twitter.com/darenw/status/1280275972667904003/photo/1
  22. https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1280262784547205121https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1280262784547205121 The Mets get the 1st Sunday night game, so we'll have to weather one more Sunday afternoon without the Mets. 6 road games against WSH and PHI but only 4 home games (the opposite with MIA and ATL). WSH gets 6 games v. the Orioles but only 3 with the MFYs while the Mets get 6 v. the MFYs and 4 with BAL.
  23. That's a 4:10 PM start. Please make a note of it.
  24. Right--other than Joe Ross (his parents are MDs) I think that the players that aren't playing are veterans with some money put away. The dominos could start to fall if Mike Trout opts out, too.
  25. If there is going to be a 2020 season there has to be a schedule and it will be released tonight at 6 PM on MLBN with the insipid Matt V. We know the Mets first game and we'll find out the other 59 planned games. A comment on a TV board (take it for what it's worth): "I saw a copy of it. In division, teams will play 2 opponents home 7, away 3, with the other opponents away 7, home 3. It will not be split 5 and 5." This cuts down on travel as it means 3 trips between 2 teams rather than 4 trips if it was 5 home and 5 away as expected. They could have had 2 5 game series but that would have been difficult logistically without doubleheaders.
