  1. It's a Sunday matinee as Jacob DeGrom (RHP, https://www.mlb.com/player/jacob-degrom-594798https://www.mlb.com/player/jacob-degrom-594798) faces Pedro Lopez (RHP, https://www.mlb.com/player/pablo-lopez-641154https://www.mlb.com/player/pablo-lopez-641154) and TBD gets the day off. It's over a year ago so it really doesn't matter but I noticed that on May 10, Lopez gave up 10 ER to the Mets in 3 IP https://www.mlb.com/gameday/marlins-vs-mets/2019/05/10/566005#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=566005https://www.mlb.com/gameday/marlins-vs-mets/2019/05/10/566005#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=566005 and then just 8 days later only gave up 0 ER in 7 IP https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2019/05/18/567383#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=567383https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-marlins/2019/05/18/567383#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=567383 The First Place Miami Marlins: 1. 3. Update: it's Daniel Castano for the Marlins who is making his MLB debut. He's a LHP who was in AA for past of last season. https://www.mlb.com/player/daniel-castano-641447https://www.mlb.com/player/daniel-castano-641447 https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1292176348056825857https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1292176348056825857
  4. David Peterson (LHP, https://www.mlb.com/player/david-peterson-656849https://www.mlb.com/player/david-peterson-656849) goes for the Mets against TBD for the Marlins. The Mets struggled against TBD last night so I don't know why tonight will be any different. And if you're still annoyed with last night's loss, this won't cheer you up: https://twitter.com/Peter_Baugh/status/1291930793921699840https://twitter.com/Peter_Baugh/status/1291930793921699840
  5. If Molina turns his hand so that his wrist is within the strike zone whilst the ball is not then it will be called a strike. If Ramos fails to do this so that his wrist is outside of the strike zone and the ball is slightly within it will not be called a strike. That's the magic of pitch framing, literally a sleight of hand. But you're right--a strike is a strike. I think in Boston we saw an ump manage to call a pitch correctly even though the catcher was set up in the opposite direction but that is not always the case. Overall, MLB umps stink. The whole lot of them could be replaced by 30 random AAA/AA/College umps and the quality of ball and strikes would not change. Robot umps forever!!!
  6. Nimmo's stopping at 3d cost them a run and perhaps the game. I'm still surprised at Dom's failure to get the tying run in. Above it all, one minor leaguer after another and they lost.
  7. Edgy--That q. was raised on Twitter (about Hamilton): @TimBritton I wondered if he'd PR right away. I think because Dozier wasn't the tying run, they were saving Hamilton in case he could run for someone else. (Idk who that "someone else" would have been. They opted against Alonso, and Hamilton may have scored had he run for Pete.)
  8. I was positive that Dom was going to tie it.
  9. It didn't matter but I agree with Gary about the decision to PH Dozier for Nimmo. Lefty/righty I understand but Dozier isn't very good and Nimmo excels at getting on baseball which was needed down 3. It worked out as the ump missed the call on 3-2.
  10. Hell of an effort tonight against one minor league pitcher after another.
  11. Dear Brandon, Either look at the ball (which got by the LFer) or the 3B coach (who was telling you to keep running), don't GUESS! You cost the team a run.
  12. Gold garbage and classless to wear it beyond the opening weekend. Who designed it, Liberace?
  13. =Fman99 post_id=42879 time=1596623699 user_id=86] =nymr83 post_id=42861 time=1596596313 user_id=54] SNY says play will resume at 11
  14. What the hell was Dozier doing? Can we cancel Dozier?
  15. Yes, the Mets have 3 C's as Ali Sanchez is on the roster. Even if you moved Ramos to C and "lost" the DH you could still PH for the P. Anything would have been preferable to having Nido bat there (Luis will cite the hard groundball he hit earlier in the game).
  16. That was a good spot for Dom instead of a AA catcher.
  17. =kcmets post_id=42815 time=1596586752 user_id=53] Late to tuning in, first play Nido catcher-clueless on a foul silo shot at an out.
  18. =Fman99 post_id=42812 time=1596586323 user_id=86] See what happens when the wrong guy starts the IGT off of a win?
  19. Matz is awful and the next GM needs to remove him regardless of his LI heritage.
  20. We always talk about the incompetence of CB Bucknor and Angel Hernandez but Laz Diaz should not be forgotten.
  21. If Cano's groin is really tight, we're gonna see more of Dozier and it appears that WSH knew what it was doing but not keeping him.
  22. I loved watching him but F him. The Mets did everything they could to get him ready to play and inserted him in the lineup right away even though he hadn't played in two years, didn't play in the March games, and only played in 2 exhibition games. He wasn't laying off any fastballs and couldn't hit a curve but he thought that he should be playing every day and might have been upset that he wouldn't reach his "incentives" because he wasn't playing every day. Good riddance. If the last 50 games are as bad as the 1st 10 at least we can now learn whether JD and Dom are good enough for full-time roles in '21.
  23. I am so sick of Nido and Rivera. Russell Martin is unemployed but AA C's Nido and Rivera backup Ramos (0 HR, 0 RBI).
  24. Unless this was BVW's only way to get something for Humphreys, I don't get it. Hamilton is a plus defender but that's what Marisnick is for (I know he's hurt) and so is Cordell. He's very fast but so is Fargas (currently hanging out in Brooklyn).
  25. d'Arnaud had more RBI in that one AB than Ramos has had all season.
